Book excerpt: The beloved literary iconoclast delivers a fresh twenty-first century primer on tarot that can be used with any deck. While tarot has gone mainstream with a diverse range of tarot decks widely available, there has been no equally mainstream guide to the tarot—one that can be applied to any deck—until now. Infused with beloved iconoclastic author Michelle Tea’s unique insight, inviting pop sensibility, and wicked humor, Modern Tarot is a fascinating journey through the cards that teaches how to use this tradition to connect with our higher selves. Whether you’re a committed seeker or a digital-age skeptic—or perhaps a little of both—Tea’s essential guide opens the power of tarot to you. Modern Tarot doesn’t require you to believe in the supernatural or narrowly focus on the tarot as a divination tool. Tea instead provides incisive descriptions of each of the 78 cards in the tarot system—each illustrated in the charmingly offbeat style of cartoonist Amanda Verwey—and introduces specially designed card-based rituals that can be used with any deck to guide you on a path toward radical growth and self-improvement. Tea reveals how tarot offers moments of deep, transformative connection—an affirming, spiritual experience that is gentle, individual, and aspirational. Grounded in Tea’s twenty-five years of tarot wisdom and her abiding love of the cards, and featuring 78 black and white illustrations throughout, Modern Tarot is the ultimate introduction to the tradition of the tarot for millennial readers.

This book was released on 2015-03-23 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Companion Guide to The Tarot of Creativity,* a Modern Tarot Deck by Aliyah Marr With a brief, easy to understand style, this guide correlates each card with its deeper numerological meanings, and the relationships of the cards with each other. Use with The Tarot of Creativity or use in conjunction with any other Tarot deck to give insight on the cards and on your readings. INTRODUCTION The Tarot of Creativity is the second Tarot deck that I have created; it was designed to be very easy to use. The card titles took a full two years to determine, as I wanted a deck that respected the ancient knowledge of numerology and Tarot symbology, while enabling more positive, practical, and modern interpretations. HOW TO USE THIS EBOOK Traditionally, the booklet included with most Tarot decks was a tiny book the size of the deck or the size of the box it shipped in. As a little stapled booklet, it was usually limited to a few pages with cryptic keywords for most of the cards that didn't really serve to illuminate the imagery or titles. One of the most arcane and difficult "Little White Books" I have ever tried to read was written by A. E. Waite for the Rider Waite Smith deck. The card descriptions seemed to have little to do with the import of the deck, and distracted from the meanings rather than adding to them. This book was created to be the companion guide for The Tarot of Creativity. I wanted to avoid the issues I found in most Little White Books. This book serves the following three purposes: 1. It is intended to be a small guide in the form of an actual printed book (or eBook) that you can take with you as a quick guide forThe Tarot of Creativity. The eBook version of this guide is included with every deck sold from the author. This version can easily be put on any device such as a tablet, computer or even on your phone. 2. The brief meanings for the cards enable the reader to engage their personal intuition. 3. It teaches how to read Tarot using numerology and how to use the energy of the suits for creative thinking. Tarot by the Numbers The Tarot of Creativity was designed to align with the ancient art of numerology. To use this book properly, it is important to look first at the number of the card. I have organized the information in this book by sections, each section contains all the cards for that number, starting with the Major Arcana card, and then proceeding through the equivalent card in each suit. If You Want To Learn Tarot I have written another book, "The Tarot Key, Unlock the Secrets to Your Soul," which is intended to be a guide for learning the Tarot, as well as being a reference tool for the more experienced or professional reader. "The Tarot Key" is intended to be the only tarot guide you will ever need and includes extensive descriptions of all the cards in both the Rider Waite Smith Tarot and The Tarot of Creativity. "The Tarot Key" introduces a blended technique for learning and reading the cards that I call the SEER System (TM). * The Tarot of Creativity is available direct from the artist / author's website: www.parallelmindzz.com -:-:- The Tarot of Creativity, Aliyah Marr, Aliyah Marr's Tarot Decks, Learn to Read Tarot, Tarot guide, guide to the Tarot, Earth-Based Religions, Celtic New Age and Spirituality, Channeling, Goddesses, Meditation, Mental and Spiritual Healing, Mysticism, New Thought, Self-Help, Theosophy, Inner Child, Earth-Based Religions Celtic Divination, Fortune Telling, New Age Divination, Magick Studies, Jung Psychology, Numerology Fortune Telling, Occult Alchemy Theosophy, Meanings of Dreams, Dream Interpretation, Divination Tarot, Reading Tarot Cards, Learn How to Read Tarot

Book excerpt: Learning the Tarot, Joan Bunning offers a complete course in 19 lessons that covers the basics and then gradually goes into more advanced concepts. First published in 1998, Joan Bunning’s Learning the Tarot has become a tarot classic. Written in a confident and natural style, the book communicates the basic depth and beauty of each card, shows how the cards trigger psychological projection, and enhances intuition. Learning the Tarot is a thorough (but never overwhelming) invitation to the beginner. The book focuses in detail on: the actual process of discovering meaning in the cards how to consider one card by itself, how to look for card pairs how to create the "story" of a reading The book includes a convenient reference section that contains two pages of information for each card, including a picture from the popular Waite-Smith deck, a description, keywords, action phrases, and suggestions for cards with similar and opposite meanings. The author first presented this course online at learntarot.com, which continues to attract over one hundred thousand visitors per month. “When I first created my website in 1995,” writes Joan Bunning, “I never dreamed how much interest in the tarot I would find. People from all over the world began writing to tell me about their experiences with the course and their adventures with the cards. This response was music to my ears! I knew from my own experience that the tarot is a wonderful tool for personal guidance and inner exploration. “My goal with this book was to give you the basics you need to begin working with the tarot on your own. I try to make this inner process understandable by breaking it up into a series of steps that are simple while still doing justice to the depth and beauty of the cards. I concentrate on the everyday, showing how the tarot makes real, practical sense in the modern world. The tarot is a living system that adapts creatively to each user. Rather than rules, I offer guidelines. While reading my book, I want you to feel that you have a teacher sitting next to you who is introducing you to this special tool, but also encouraging you to go on to discover your own unique approach to the cards.”
