Instead, it takes the reader into the lives and settings of the characters whose lives cross, for a brief few days during a horrific battle, whether directly or indirectly through relationships. It reflects on the innocence of the characters and daily life. It also enters into personal reflections and the beliefs and plans of those involved. Author Keith N. Corman’s work will leave readers with a sense that personal lives in previous eras were much like our own now, and that war is harsh and leaves scars on those left behind, whether in the area of conflict or those back out of harm’s way on the home front.

Book excerpt: The idea for the story “The Scourge” came to me while I was driving through the Arizona and the California desert one late night looking at the ominous dust clouds filled with circling night hawks against the windy night sky. It looked creepy at best. When I got to my motel room on the side of the table, I read a holy bible about Matthew; Jesus who chased out the demons. I put them together and figured that anyone could be in hell so the selection of characters were almost infinite. Along with this, I would see the rail cars filled with tanks, and other military equipment crossing the desert. On one memorable occasion I noticed a rail car loaded with migrant workers crossing the same area so I decided to use that in my story. This is how the idea of The Scourge was birthed. Writing “The Scourge” I envisioned what would it take to bring The Legion that was in Matthew back into modern times. This is not a bible study story, it is a deep dark, scary novel. It has lots of violence, action, and sex within the story. Having these elements were necessary in this type of story to show how it resurfaced on Earth once more again. Without them the story would have been lifeless and dull. Plus, taking on the challenge of writing this particular story is considered The Holy Grail of all Horror Stories. The last thing I decided was to tell it from the perspective of two people who were in hell and who were given a chance to change sides. That gave the story a different twist. Many have tried to make this happen but none have really succeeded. I hope that you enjoy my story if you are a fan of the darkness.

But amidst the battles and bargaining that go into saving the world, there is also an enormous amount of heart.”—RT Book Reviews Unchained from fate, the Norse gods Loki and Hel are ready to unleash Ragnarok, a.k.a. the Apocalypse, upon the earth. They’ve made allies on the darker side of many pantheons, and there’s a globe-spanning battle brewing that ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan will be hardpressed to survive, much less win. Granuaile MacTiernan must join immortals Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen in a fight against the Yama Kings in Taiwan, and she discovers that the stakes are much higher than she thought. Meanwhile, Archdruid Owen Kennedy must put out both literal and metaphorical fires from Bavaria to Peru to keep the world safe for his apprentices and the future of Druidry. And Atticus recruits the aid of a tyromancer, an Indian witch, and a trickster god in hopes that they’ll give him just enough leverage to both save Gaia and see another sunrise. There is a hound named Oberon who deserves a snack, after all. Book excerpt: A magical fantasy adventure with shapeshifters and creatures from myth and legend. Suitable for all readers 9 and up. Parents, read this with your children! Eleven-year-old Melinda Strickland is setting out on her first mission as a shapeshifter—to save a town from unruly gargoyles. The ugly stone creatures have been perched on the rooftops of Garlen's Well for decades, warding off evil spirits, but lately they've grown mischievous and downright destructive. Somebody needs to talk to them, find out what's going on, and persuade them to be more respectful of private property. That somebody is Melinda, daughter of famous shapeshifters Robbie the ogre and Lauren the harpy. But what kind of creature will she get to be? Travis Franklin accompanies her on the trip west, though Melinda is keen to point out she's in charge, not him. He's only a dragon, after all. Nothing ever goes as planned. What promises to be a fairly routine mission turns into something quite deadly . . . GARGOYLE SCOURGE is the third installment in the Island of Fog Legacies series. Good, clean, sometimes scary fun for young readers, and suitable for adults as well.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inferno is the first part of Italian poet Dante Alighieri's epic poem Divine Comedy. The allegory describes Dante's journey through the depths of Hell. He is led by the Roman poet Virgil down into the nine circles of Hell, each of which holds and punishes progressively worse sinners. From the First Circle, where unbaptized souls live in peaceful limbo, down to the Ninth Circle, where Satan is trapped in ice, Dante sees firsthand the consequence of unrepentantly sinning against God. Dante published his narrative poem between 1308 and 1321. This version is taken from an 1892 English edition, featuring British author Rev. H. F. Cary's blank verse translation and woodcut illustrations by French artist Gustave Doré.
