Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To play the flute with a clear and convincing sound depends on the understanding of the physical concepts required to make the instrument sound without using undue force and applying just the right amount of physical help where needed. Edmund Raas has explored and taught these fine-points for over 60 years. Born in Switzerland, he has been influenced by the teachings of Emil Niosi (pupil of the great Georges Barrre), Hugo Haldemann, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Aurle Nicolet. Besides teaching, he had the opportunity to play solo concerti and act in many chamber music groups including Renaissance and Baroque music on period instruments. From 1977 to 2005 he also acted as first flutist in the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of So Paulo, Brazil. Since his retirement from this orchestra he is pursuing a career as composer.

This book was released on 2016-12-08 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The VADE MECUM IN TRIBULACIONE was meant as an eschatological manual for the thirteen catastrophic years between its composition in December 1356 and the Thousand-Year Reign of Christ expected to begin in 1370. This manual, permeated by passion for clerical reform, was intended to give righteous Christians practical and spiritual advice on how to survive this period of tribulation. Likewise, it aimed to inform them about what to expect from the envoys of Satan, the Western and the Eastern Antichrists, but also from Christ’s warriors, the papal restorer and his secular assistant, the French-Roman Emperor. Moreover, it offered a brief outline of Christ’s Thousand-Year Reign and of Armageddon. The VADE MECUM was written by John of Rupescissa OFM (c. 1310-1366), the most prolific apocalyptic author of the Middle Ages, as the central work of in all three manuals designed to prepare Christendom for the impending crises. As a completely new text type and summary of the late Rupescissa’s doctrines, this eschatological manual fascinated numerous readers in the Late Middle Ages, who copied, reworked and translated it and made it thus a pivotal text of medieval apocalypticism: ten versions of the Latin VADE MECUM in more than forty manuscripts have come down to us. Rupescissa’s eschatological manual is his last known and most widely distributed work; the present study provides an annotated critical edition equipped with an English translation. It inducts in the manual’s contents, places them in the context of Rupescissa’s work and medieval prophetic literature, investigates important aspects of its reception and clarifies the relationships between its different versions. Furthermore, it ends with a critical edition of the VENI MECUM IN TRIBULACIONE, the most influential compendious version of the VADE MECUM. Thus this book offers an indispensable fundamental contribution to the flourishing studies of Rupescissa and medieval apocalypticism.

Rapid access is facilitated by a bullet-point, tabular and diagrammatic style, as well as by handy anatomical diagrams, guidance on the ‘Cut-Up’ with emphasis on core ‘datasets’ and by a special index for frozen section advice, grading systems and scoring systems. The book provides, where useful, differential diagnosis lists and presents diagnostically helpful molecular and immunohistochemical findings. Information is kept up-to-date on a dedicated website www.pathbook.com. The Diagnostic Criteria Handbook in Histopathology is not designed to be an “exam cram” and neither will it serve as a basic text for beginners. Trainees, however, will still benefit from the sheer breadth of topics covered in this one small volume: from lab management and lab methods, to autopsy practice, cytology and all sub-specialties in surgical pathology. A chapter on exam technique and mnemonics makes the book also an essential companion for those revising for professional exams. So why clutter your precious desk space with multiple sets of heavy two-volume reference works? Give this handy Vade Mecum a place next to your microscope and see how much time you could save!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vade-mecums are guide books you carry with you. They have been around forever and are common in Europe for all sorts of things. The Latin term literally means "go with me". Here, Dr. Montgomery invites you to go with him as he explores the literature of food and develops a theology of gastronomy. Along with being a theologian and philosopher, an attorney, a barrister, a French advocate, a teacher, a husband and many other things, Dr. Montgomery is a lover of fine dining and formally embraces its craft with care. In the age of the microwave, where food is either fast or frozen and almost always pre-prepared, he wants to introduce us to the glories of fine dining, where we can take joy in all our Father has provided to us beyond the simple requirements of sustenance. With Dr. Montgomery as your guide, you will meet great chefs, and travel across time and space with food as the focus, enjoying the views, flavors and smells (and recipes!) Everything Dr. Montgomery explores takes place in light of faith in a God who is now one of us, who made all the senses, loves variety, knows hospitality, and will culminate all of history in the best of wedding feasts to which every good meal points and of which every great meal participates.
