Book excerpt: Trans Formations is not a book about trans and non-binary Christians it is a book by trans and non-binary Christians. Who they are, what they experience, and what they understand stretches beyond trans-apologetics to formative anthropological and theological notions without which the body of anthropological and theological knowledge is incomplete. They have things to say about God and about being human and their yet-to-be-accessed insights matter. Whilst there is an abundance of material about trans ethics, there is little trans-written theology or theological anthropology that is formative, rather than trans critical or trans-apologetic. Situated within a queer paradigm, this book presents the identities, insights, and ideas of ten diverse trans and non-binary Christians. Alex Clare-Young, through their own identity, experiences, and insights of researching alongside nine other wonderful human-beings, writes their trans formational journey into being.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Terrible We Cameron Awkward-Rich thinks with the bad feelings and mad habits of thought that persist in both transphobic discourse and trans cultural production. Observing that trans studies was founded on a split from and disavowal of madness, illness, and disability, Awkward-Rich argues for and models a trans criticism that works against this disavowal. By tracing the coproduction of the categories of disabled and transgender in the United States at the turn of the twentieth century and analyzing transmasculine literature and theory by Eli Clare, Elliott DeLine, Dylan Scholinski, and others, Awkward-Rich suggests that thinking with maladjustment might provide new perspectives on the impasses arising from the conflicted relationships among trans, feminist, and queer. In so doing, he demonstrates that rather than only impeding or confining trans life, thought, and creativity, forms of maladjustment have also been and will continue to be central to their development. Book excerpt: First published in 1991.The training, employment, and career movement of doctors is of fundamental concern to all those working in and administrating the National Health Service and private medicine within Britain and around the world. Doctors' Careers makes available to a wide readership, in one volume, the results of a comprehensive survey of medical choices and career progress of doctors qualifying from British medical schools during a decade, from 1974 to 1983. No other survey of this kind has been carried out over a prolonged period of time. This is a unique record of the aspirations, feelings and experiences of a very large group of doctors, during a time of considerable changes in emigration, training for general practice, and the position of women doctors. The book deals with these issues, and also the reasons for choosing and changing careers within medicine, postgraduate qualifications, internal migration of doctors within the UK, aspects of some important individual specialisms - medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and anaesthetics - and the personal opinions of doctors about their training and the career problems of British medicine. The data has important implications for medical staff planning, and this is taken up in an analysis of the employment status of doctors five years after leaving medical school.
