Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In volume one of this multi-volume series, Marc Ellis explores the essence of the prophetic by intertwining the context of ordinary life and the explosive reality of Jewish identity, the Holocaust and Israel-Palestine. But Ellis’s prophetic challenge extends to people of all faiths and backgrounds. For Jews, Christians and Muslims, where does the prophetic come from and how do we define it? Is the heartbeat of the prophetic, God or our own commitment? In our time where belief in God is more difficult does the prophetic suggest only the possibility of God? With or without God is the prophetic worth the suffering that comes the exile’s way? Ellis’s unfolding narration of the prophetic is unique and probing for those who take life, justice and faith seriously.

Book excerpt: This book was orchestrated by the Holy Spirit for a time like now, and was birthed in the Spirit between 2007 and 2010, a span of three years. But its impact for the country and the citizens will last a life-time if the call is heard by those to whom the Lord is speaking. The country is at a cross road right now with the various interest groups pulling the country in different directions, and mainly inspired by their selfish and blind pursuit of ill-conceived agenda to loot the treasury of the land, our collective heritage. I want to warn anyone who reads this book and still wants to be in stupor, that it is either you are a part of the solution or you're a part of the problem. There is no more space in the Nigerian sphere for observers, and those who want to straddle the fence are going to be victims of Happenstance. We are to take our rightful position as sons of God; being the rightful owners of this land called Nigeria, and God Almighty will send his angels to support the work and the mandate he has given to you. This is a clarion call for all to stand and be counted, register a company or an association of your own calling and push for the change you can believe in. This is our country, and there is nowhere else we would be accepted as in this land; it is in this country we have our destiny tied to, and we have the next five years to plant and position whatever it is that God has asked you to do. Go for it, forget what can happen to your image, name or monies; they are nothing compared with what will befall a man whom God has clearly given a man- date and having known about it, fails to attempt it, nonetheless, carry it out. Imagine eternity and decide where you would spend yours. Knowing what God wants you to do and refusing to do it is the sin of disobedience. Success is simply knowing what God has deposited inside of you and positioning yourself to achieve it. And He (God) never leaves that person empty handed. Nigeria is stronger as a united country and not as a divided enclaves. Be- sides, God does not like disharmony, so we should find what unites us and remove every selfish desire, as we all find a lasting solution to our differences. For we are actually strengthened by the various diversities which makes us unique as a nation. Look at Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia and even the United Kingdom, all these options are different, but each one works for her people. Nigerians are the people who have the solution to Nigerian Problems. This is my way of contributing towards building the greater to- morrow of our Beloved Country. May God help us through these trying times, for in no time this too shall surely come to pass.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores the theological heartbeat of the Old Testament by examining three big ideas that communicate the Old Testament's redemptive theology. Highly respected scholar Mark Boda shows how three creedal expressions--the narrative, character, and relational creeds--recur throughout the Old Testament and express its core redemptive theology, in turn revealing how the redemptive pulse of God expands to all of creation. He also traces these redemptive and creational pulses into the New Testament and shows their relevance for today's Christian community.

Have you ever wanted to know the answers to these questions about God? Do you want to find out if what youve always thought about God is really true? You can get answers to these questions by looking at what the Bible says about the heart of God. In this stimulating and heartfelt book, Dr. Harold Shank leads us through an in-depth study of scripture that will help us find out what makes Gods heart beat. Dr. Shank also explores how to reconcile some of the difficult-to-comprehend aspects of Gods heart. How can His goodness and love be reconciled with His command to utterly destroy a certain group of people? or If God cares about brokenhearted people, why are there so many of them in our world?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Future of the Prophetic argues that in the persistence of the prophetic, the legacy of the ancient Jewish world spread beyond the boundaries of the Jewish community and took root throughout the world. As a way of wisdom and hope, this dual rooting—its grounding in the tradition of ancient Israel and its uncontained itinerancy—unveils a startling but promising new context: a re-presentation of the prophetic from outside the Jewish world to the Jewish community. The new situation of contemporary prophetic challenges the fixed religious landscape by reversing traditional boundaries, eschewing power and privilege, and brokering peace through solidarity and common struggle in ecumenical and interfaith contexts.
