Book excerpt: This experimental novel is a Derridan collage of fragments in place and time. We learn rapidly, through the community, of a cosmic catastrophe on Earth, and the events that brought this global crew together. Elsewhere in counterpoint, in non-places, Nullitopias of the book's title, we hear isolated radio messages, of celebrations and commemorations; and know people, identities and events by their functions. At a time, somewhere in the distant skies, Jack Malik reflects on his identity, journey and circumstance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides an in-depth discussion on the central question – how can people express and survive dissent and disagreement in confined habitats in space? The discussion is an important one because it could be that the systems of inter-dependence required to survive in space are so strong that dissent becomes impossible. John Locke originally said that people have a right to use revolution to overthrow a despotic regime. But if revolution causes violence and damage that causes depressurisation with the risk of killing many people, is it even permissible to have a revolution? How then are people to express their liberty or dissatisfaction with their rulers? The emergence of structures of dissent and disagreement is an essential part of the construction of a framework of liberty in space (revolution is just the extreme example) and thus the topic deserves in-depth and immediate attention. Even today, the way in which we assemble organisations and corporations for the government and private exploration of space must take into account the need for mechanisms to allow people to express dissent.

Book excerpt: The Truth Agenda explores some of the most famous unexplained mysteries and global cover-ups of recent history. What is the truth about UFOs, pyramids, religious apparitions, psychic phenomena, visions of the future and ancient prophecies, and what is their connection to famous conspiracy theories concerning the Moon landings, 9/11, the New World Order, and claims that the planet is secretly run by a powerful ruling elite? Leading mysteries researcher Andy Thomas pulls the many threads together in an accessible, stimulating and credible overview which suggests that our world may be very different from the picture presented by the establishment. The Truth Agenda shows how we can avoid control manipulations and help to create a more positive future. Why do so many people believe in conspiracy theories, and what is the evidence to support them? What is the basis for the wide belief that we are now in a ‘New Era’ of massive change and consciousness shift? Why is there such huge but officially undeclared interest in paranormal phenomena from authorities and religions? How does all this tie together and explain the agendas of control and surveillance in the West, and what can we do?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1985, this book is the result of an exploration of the state papers of the United Kingdom undertaken with the aim of discovering information about the past use of chemical warfare. This information may serve as a point of historical reference in speculation upon the possible nature and consequences of large-scale chemical warfare recurring in Europe. Part I of the monograph concentrates primarily on material documenting the use of chemical weapons in the First and Second World Wars, the impact of this use on the civilian populations of France and Belgium, casualties incurred in the production, research, development, training and deployment of chemical warfare agents, and the attempts made to incorporate chemical weapons into military doctrine and war-preparedness. Part II supplements the citation of documents in Part I. It comprises an ordered bibliography listing not only the location of the records found to be of primary concern to this study, but also the location of other records not cited in Part I which appear to form much of the remainder of the official record of the British CW effort. A list of some of the papers which have not been released comprises the concluding section.

Deep questioning. Throughout my life I have seen very little evidence of this taking place. In my early life as an engineering apprentice at Rolls Royce I had so many questions. In my subsequent management jobs in industry I had so many questions. In the engineering businesses that I started the questions begun to be answered. A few life traumas and then retraining in osteopathy and yoga and shortly after, tai chi, matched enquiry with answers. Over 25 years of yoga teaching, answers have come thick and fast. Treating over 6000 patients using my own patented therapy, full movement method, has produced a host of other questions and again lots of answers. What has been a source of astonishment and continues to provide a source of continuing amazement is how much factual information there is out there but how little understanding of how things work. Why do people assume that age brings infirmity when in many cultures it does not? Why do so few find any interest in protecting their health with the worlds most advanced system--yoga Why are so many people inappropriately labelled when they have pain? How is it that so many medical people are so astonishingly ignorant of the most simple solutions to ordinary bad backs? How can so many "medical professionals" be so utterly inadequate with normal people who are in pain? How can one spend 10 years learning and not know of the need to stretch a muscle when it is tight? How can yoga have found so few adherents? Where are the thinkers in the culture? Where are the wise people today? My fervent wish is that this book ends up in the hands of someone who is a thinker and has just not been able to find sufficient power in their own belief, to counter the force of opinion of someone who does not know that he does not know or, worse, is sure that he does know and is unaware of his own supreme ignorance.

Book excerpt: At any time in our history, you will find significant and seemingly indisputable events occurring, the kind that can change the course of our lives -- the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Yet for every one of them, somebody, somewhere will loudly dispute the 'official' account, doubting that the truth has been told. In today's environment, with trust in authorities at an all-time low, conspiracy theories have found a new currency, and websites and social networking ensure they receive a wider and more rapid spread than ever before. But how do we separate truth from imagination? Was Princess Diana murdered, as many people think, despite all the official denials? Did NASA really go to the Moon, when anomalies in the photographic record suggest otherwise? Could 9/11 really have been set up by agencies within the USA itself? The Kindle edition includes an update on all the conspiracy theories that have emerged in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic The author opens the conspiracy casebook by examining the mindset of those who believe in conspiracies, and considers whether the dismissive attitude towards them has been fair. Part Two looks into history to establish that conspiracies do occur, credibility should therefore be given to belief in some of the alleged plots and cover-ups of today. This leads into a well-argued examination of some of the most popular conspiracies of our times, including theories over assassinations, UFO cover-ups, and widely voiced concerns over 9/11 and the 'New World Order'. Part Three draws the conclusion that while not all conspiracy theories can be proven, they do at least draw attention to paths not to take, and can be valuable in helping to create a better world where new trust and hope can be forged. Are we living in a world of control, of oppression, of habitual deception? Is this really how things are, or simply human nature massively distorted through a dark lens? The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
