Book excerpt: Meet a man forced to live in a fast changing and godless society. He faced fears about the future, concern for his safety, and the discouragement of world that seemed to be falling apart at warp speed. Sound familiar? His name was Daniel, and with the power of hope, humility, and wisdom, he not only thrived, he changed an empire while he was at it. Though he lived thousands of years ago, he has a much to teach us today. Even in Babylon, God Is in Control In Thriving in Babylon, Larry Osborne explores the “adult” story of Daniel to help us not only survive – but actually thrive in an increasingly godless culture. Here Pastor Osborne looks at: - Why panic and despair are never from God- What true optimism looks like- How humility disarms even our greatest of enemies- Why respect causes even those who will have nothing to do with God to listen- How wisdom can snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat For those who know Jesus and understand the full implications of the cross, the resurrection, and the promises of Jesus, everything changes – not only in us, but also in our world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The historical course of Christianity in the twentieth century has been strongly marked by the Ecumenical Movement and the Liturgical Movement, and often these currents for the recovery of the Church's unity and the renewal of its worship have flowed together. In this new book, author Geoffrey Wainwright draws on his three decades of active participation in both movements to offer a theologically informed account of what has been at stake in them, what their achievements have been, and what tasks remain for them to accomplish. He shows how the two movements have engaged such issues as the authority and function of scripture and tradition as well as the nature of the Church and sacraments. In this last connection, Wainwright illuminates the convergence represented by the widely received Lima text on "Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry," in the writing of which he played a prominent part. The linguistic and anthropological turns that characterize twentieth-century thought are reflected in the attention given to the language and ritual of worship. The social location of the Church is addressed in chapters that look to liturgical practices for common Christian perspectives on ethics, politics, and culture, so that discords and conflicts may be resolved and reconciled. The book makes its own contribution to the symphony of praise to which the apostle Paul summons Christians and the churches when they will "with one mind and one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

But few grasp what that should mean for the church today. “The early church was a prayer meeting,” says Armin Gesswein. Using the book of Acts, With One Accord in One Place looks at the role of prayer in the early church and how through prayer and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, this praying church changed the world forever. This modern classic will challenge and inspire you to work toward prayer’s rightful place in your own church. Prayer will shake up and empower your congregation to be kingdom changers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I consider this book to be a simple, easy read of a lesson and message that came from God while searching a time such as this. It’s an end-time must read for the church. The book was written to be an easy read, and likewise, it’s easy to understand its point of view and its purpose. The book is like an interesting word picture. The more you look at it, the more you understand it and see its purpose and message. Personally, I do not believe a loving God who created us in his image would make it difficult and hard for us to understand his purpose and embrace his love and eternal desire. Frankly, the message of the book in totality is about God the Father desiring the most spiritually intimate relationship possible between him and his mankind creation. The book encourages personal accountability. Enjoy the read, and come away desiring a deeper, more spiritually intimate personal relationship with God. It is a mandate for mankind. It is time to roar (reach one accord relationship), church!

Book excerpt: This document's purpose is to spell out the Church's understanding of the nature of revelation--the process whereby God communicates with human beings. It touches upon questions about Scripture, tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church. The major concern of the document is to proclaim a Catholic understanding of the Bible as the "word of God." Key elements include: Trinitarian structure, roles of apostles and bishops, and biblical reading in a historical context.
