Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Those are words - only words". This was a comment I once heard in response to another's comments. The response to the responder came back quickly - "words are truly all we have - our words are WHO we are. They are everything." This author could not agree more. In writing "Words Of A Lifetime... So Far", I wanted to do just that - put words out there that reveal our meaning, our substance - that who we are and why we are, is so very important to our happiness in this life. That those things, those places, those people - their faces, (whoops! There I go again ...) are what make the journey that we are all on so very worth it. The only way we truly have to authentically express what that journey means to us and what we mean to each other, is through the WORDS. Our Words. With, full page, color photographs, many of them montages of photos taken around the world, I offer scope and dimension into my poetic works and use the personal stories of my experiences to introduce each poem. I am really excited to offer the experience of essay, poetry and photography for your reading pleasure in a single volume. I believe it will present the poetic genre from a whole new perspective and vision. Above all, I hope it helps us all to connect with each other just a little more. There is no such thing as an ordinary life. We are all extraordinary. All of us... each of us. So here's to US and to The Words Of A Lifetime... So Far. Thanks for visiting. Join me in the journey. What we Read, is Where we Go! KM KM Kirkpatrick or "kPat" for short, is a South Carolina native who resides in the low country haven of James Island in Charleston. A former Air Force member, he has lived throughout the Middle East, Asia and Turkey where many of the photographs from this book were taken. His passion for travel, exploration, language and culture have distilled a desire to write in unifiying themes that illumincate our human experience in ways that teach"beyond the moment". Book excerpt: Father Don Hanway defines preaching as "an attempt to link the words of Holy Scripture with the lives of the hearers in such a way that both the words and the lives are illuminated." He demonstrates the definition in this collection of 40 sermons from the last fifteen of his 22 years ministering next to a state university in the nation's heartland. This volume was produced in response to entreaty from a few of the many who benefited from and contributed to the preacher's continuing education. He selected the sermons on the basis of originality, variety of season and occasion, centrality of the message of Good News for all people, and in many cases, reference to movies for illustrative purposes. Preaching is a privilege, as well as a demanding profession. Church-goers seek an authentic word of hope and challenge that will help them make sense of their lives in a complex and fast-moving world. Respecting the time and intelligence of his listeners, and following the three-year lectionary of the Church, Dr. Hanway's sermons are lucid and concise, ranging over many topics, and infused with his personal witness to timeless truth and the reality of God's presence in our lives.

Book excerpt: Throughout Christian history, the overwhelmingly predominant view of the Bible has been that it is itself the living and active word of God. In this book Timothy Ward explains and defends what we are really saying when we trust and proclaim, as we must, that the Bible is God's word. In particular he describes the nature of the relationship between the living God and Scripture. He examines why, in order to worship God faithfully, we need to pay close attention to the Bible; why, in order to be faithful disciples of Jesus, the Word-made-flesh, we need to base our lives on the words of the Bible; and why, in order to keep in step with the Holy Spirit, we need to trust and obey what the Bible says. Ward offers an understanding of the nature of Scripture under three main headings. A biblical outline shows that the words of the Bible form a significant part of God's action in the world. A theological outline focuses on the relationship of Scripture with each of the persons of the Trinity. And a doctrinal outline examines the 'attributes' of Scripture. A final chapter explores some significant areas in which the doctrine of Scripture should be applied. Ward offers us an excellent, lucid exposition of the nature and function of Scripture, expressed in a form appropriate for the tweny-first century, grounded in the relevant scholarship, and standing firmly in line with the best of the theological traditions.

They are containers for power, and we have to decide what kind of power we want our words to carry. . . . I believe that our words can increase or decrease our level of joy. They can affect the answers to our prayers and have a positive or negative effect on our future. . . . One might say that our words are a movie screen that reveals what we have been thinking and the attitudes we have." Building on the premises of her bestselling books, Power Thoughts and Living Beyond Your Feelings, Joyce examines how we use words-the vehicles that convey our thoughts and emotions-and provides a series of guidelines for cultivating talk that is constructive, healthy, healing, and used for good results. Topics include: The Impact of Words How to Tame Your Tongue How to be Happy When to talk and when not to talk Speaking Faith and Not Fear The Corrosion of Complaints Do you really have to give your opinion? The importance of keeping your word The power of speaking God's word How to have a smart mouth In "A Dictionary of God's Word" at the end of the book, Joyce provides dozens of scripture verses, arranged by topic, and recommends that we read them aloud to strengthen our vocabulary of healing words.
