Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A concise account of the whole biblical narrative and what it means—as well as the beliefs and lifestyle it inspires—for those observing Christianity from the outside, especially those who think there are good reasons not to believe. A Doubter's Guide to the Bible charts a biblical roadmap from the story of creation to the fulfillment of creation, answering many of the most frequently asked questions along the way: How can we read the creation account in Genesis in light of modern science? How should Old Testament law be understood when it appears inconsistent and irrelevant? Isn't the story of Jesus' birth a little far-fetched? What is the Gospel? Why are there four accounts of the same thing, and what are they really saying? John Dickson provides a readable and inviting Bible primer for anyone interested in informing themselves about the most widely read book in the history of humanity. By presenting the whole of the Bible as an account of God's promise to restore humanity to Himself, and humans to one another and to creation, Dickson allows believers and skeptics alike to gain insight into why the Bible has been a compelling, life-changing, and magnetic force throughout the ages—and why it still matters.

It deals with lifes vicissitudes and unshakable faith which will encourage readers to effectively cope with loss. Readers will understand Gods unfailing love and develop faith that will help them persevere in the face of adversity. They will also understand Gods grace which is the cornerstone of success in any human endeavor. Salvation is another important component of this book, and I have joyfully related and reiterated its necessity for eternity. An important and interesting part of this book deals with my encounter with a known atheist, and what happened afterward will surprise readers. Moreover, this book was prayerfully written and will remain a glorious and anointed masterpiece for ages to come. It can also serve an academic purpose, especially for those in the arts and social sciences with particular focus on the subject of bereavement. I have no doubt that it will make a big and positive impact on those who read, and more importantly, meditate on it. Frances Ebisike-Eboh writes with a raw emotion giving you a pick into the lab of real life experiences with life and death. Her personal experiences through the peaks and valleys of life are inspiring, and her honesty about struggles with faith in the dark seasons of life is refreshing. Pastor Russell Hodgins. What incredible stories that will be sure to encourage you and open your eyes to the many ways God might be working in your life. Pastor David VanDonge.

Book excerpt: Edith Prendergast, R.S.C., issues a clarion call to both conversion and renewal, inviting readers to enter more deeply into the mind and heart of Christ and to live as his messengers in the Church and the world. In a world burdened by anxiety and fear, where human weakness and social sin tear at the fabric of every institution, Prendergast reminds her readers that each one has been given an amazing gift of faith and calls them to revitalize their commitment to others. Prendergasts compelling spiritual vision is enriched by her skilled use of scripture, the saints and mystics, and contemporary writers and poets. She also draws from the little epiphanies of ordinary, everyday life be they the words of a child or the insights of a homeless man. With a spirit of reverence and delight, each reflection harmonizes a host of voices that both inspire and energize her readers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly all scholars divide Genesis into primeval and patriarchal history, though they debate the precise point of division. One reason advanced to justify the division is a thematic shift. In primeval history, the narrator focuses on the origin and spread of sin, as well as God's consequent curse and judgment on humanity. In patriarchal history, however, the spread of sin theme falls off the radar of most scholars. But these analyses of the primeval and patriarchal narratives are simplistic and inaccurate. In fact, the theme of human sin and the divine curse not only serve as the main themes of the Fall narrative, but they also continue to function as major themes in both the primeval and patriarchal narratives that follow. More particularly, human sin appears to increase at both individual and societal levels. Moreover, just as the primordial sin threatened to derail the advance of God's kingdom and fulfillment of the creation mandate, so the spread of human sin in postlapsarian history threatens to thwart God's redemptive plan, which consists in the restoration of his original creational intentions for divine and human eschatological fullness. This proves true even in the patriarchal narratives where the sins of God's chosen often threaten the very promise intended for their ultimate good. These facts, which the author attempts to demonstrate in the monograph, not only have important ramifications for the unity of the Genesis corpus, but they also have important implications for the doctrines of sin, justification, and sanctification.

Book excerpt: Every day that we interact with the world, we are in a battle. At stake is the eternal destiny of the souls of our friends, family members, and coworkers. It is a battle we wage not only in prayer but also in words. When we are faced with objections to the faith we profess, are we ready to respond? Apologist and evangelist Ray Comfort has spent his entire career answering objections to the faith, and he wants you to be equipped to do the same. In this practical book, he shows you how to answer 20 objections to Christianity, including questions such as - What physical proof is there that God even exists? - Why does a "loving" God threaten eternal torture for not believing in him? - If there's an all-powerful God, why is the world so out of control? Don't go into battle unarmed. Let Ray Comfort train you to be ready with an answer, not so you can be right, but so you can help bring people from darkness into light.
