This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photoemission (also known as photoelectron) spectroscopy refers to the process in which an electron is removed from a specimen after the atomic absorption of a photon. The first evidence of this phenomenon dates back to 1887 but it was not until 1905 that Einstein offered an explanation of this effect, which is now referred to as ""the photoelectric effect"". Quantitative Core Level Photoelectron Spectroscopy: A Primer tackles the pragmatic aspects of the photoemission process with the aim of introducing the reader to the concepts and instrumentation that emerge from an experimental approach. The basic elements implemented for the technique are discussed and the geometry of the instrumentation is explained. The book covers each of the features that have been observed in the X-ray photoemission spectra and provides the tools necessary for their understanding and correct identification. Charging effects are covered in the penultimate chapter with the final chapter bringing closure to the basic uses of the X-ray photoemission process, as well as guiding the reader through some of the most popular applications used in current research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents photoelectron spectroscopy as a valuable method for studying the electronic structures of various solid materials in the bulk state, on surfaces, and at buried interfaces. This second edition introduces the advanced technique of high-resolution and high-efficiency spin- and momentum-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy using a novel momentum microscope, enabling high-precision measurements down to a length scale of some tens of nanometers. The book also deals with fundamental concepts and approaches to applying this and other complementary techniques, such as inverse photoemission, photoelectron diffraction, scanning tunneling spectroscopy, as well as photon spectroscopy based on (soft) x-ray absorption and resonance inelastic (soft) x-ray scattering. This book is the ideal tool to expand readers’ understanding of this marvelously versatile experimental method, as well as the electronic structures of metals and insulators.

Cutler and published by National Library of Canada = Bibliothèque nationale du Canada. This book was released on 1993 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High resolution spectra of the Ge 3d and Sn 4d levels of several compounds are reported. The spectra of GeH$\sb4$ and AsH$\sb3$ demonstrate that the observed vibrational intensity is related to the metal's position on the Periodic Table. The spectra of GeF$\sb4$ and SnCl$\sb4$ prove that orbital interaction is possible between atomic levels thereby creating pseudo-bonding orbitals.
