New York Times bestselling author Barbara Delinsky's classic novel Twilight Whispers now available as an e-book for the first time. Linked for years through friendship and intermarriage, the Warren and Whyte families find their charmed world is marred when Mark Whyte and his wife Deborah Warren are found murdered. Police detective Robert Cavanaugh, working on a tip about dissension within the families, sets out to examine the mystique behind their wealth and power. Katia Morell is part of that mystique. Daughter of the Whyte’s housekeeper but now a successful advertising executive, she is drawn back into the home where she never quite belonged, and is forced to face her life-long, unrequited love for Jordan Whyte. As the police investigation uncovers secret after secret and, finally, boils to a shocking conclusion, Katia and Jordan are but two of the family members who face difficult choices in their search for happiness.

Book excerpt: This anthology abounds in the feeling of love-- Love has always been the source of inspiration for the countless poems and thoughtful scribbling made by lovers and admirers, but few poems are written analyzing the concept and how to feel to be in love. This book speaks of how love can be the source of inspiration at the same time the source of abjection. Rejection and dejection can push one to a corner while love can uplift and transcend a mind from one realm to another. This garland of verses as the author would love to call is also a memory book remembering the various emotions her mother has been subjected to. Some lines and verses of this book speak the loudest and most directly and others have reflection of vibrant imagery and artful characters. Some lines have divine intonation while others draw heavily from mundane life. The book has tried to capture the colors, aroma and essences of water, land, mountains, seasons and even leaves. Every object of Nature has their own language. This book has made an attempt to communicate that subtle language through verses. The book contains some illustrations.

It was during the 1800s that Lovella survived a vicious attack by a ferocious feline that wandered from a forest in Asia. This attack occurred during Lovella's third pregnancy of the first male child born into this family. This attack occurred in the backyard of her home while she was roasting pig, a cat ran toward her from the woods and knocked her down to the ground. Her screams were heard, and a pack of wolf dogs chased the feline away. The attack was so vicious it left permanent physical and mental scars on Lovella. The birth of the child was full-term although questioned by the doctor as to why the baby was born hissing like a cat and born with teeth and the "eyes of a tiger." Each time the baby boy named Timothy hungered for milk and food, his cry sounded like a "cat's meow." As the years went by, the child grew to speak well. He would experience temper tantrums all continued past the age of two. The family kept him close to home and never revealed to any family members or friends of the attack that Lovella experienced during her pregnancy. His favorite play area was in the backyard, as he was often seen scratching the bark on every tree in the yard. To this day, his name "Timothy" is embarked in a tree that still stands. There would be nights when Timothy would awaken and go to the kitchen pulling fruits from the refrigerator leaving large bite marks in unpeeled fruits and vegetables. Evaluations and testing from therapists, psychologist, and psychiatrist all revealed that little Timothy was born with a gene that carried a trait in the DNA that all males born into this family in future generations would carry this gene can never be removed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early 1990s, after writing for most of his life in Yiddish, his mother tongue, Jacob Rosenberg decided to switch to English. The period of extraordinary creativity that followed was cut short only by his death in 2008, at the age of 86. During those fifteen-odd years, Rosenberg wrote and published three collections of poetry, a book of short stories, a novel, and two prize-winning memoirs that chart his journey from youth in the Lodz ghetto, through the nightmare of the Holocaust and the loss of his entire family, to the rebuilding of a future in Australia. Singing for All He's Worth brings together twelve men and women from Australian literary and intellectual life who knew Jacob Rosenberg and offer their responses to his writings. It is a colourful and moving collection, each contributor illuminating different facets of Rosenberg's remarkable mind and personality. As Raimond Gaita points out in his foreword: "All the contributors to this volume were his friends. All esteemed him as a man and as a writer. Many loved him. The love and the esteem are warmly evident in the essays. Singing for All He's Worth will enrich the experience of those already familiar with Rosenberg's work, while helping to introduce him to a new community of readers.
