Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second book on kindness centers on two statements of caution Jesus offers in "A Course in Miracles." Characteristic of his gentle guidance, he tells us not to be disturbed by the shadows surrounding our "little willingness" to learn from him, and not to despair because of our limitations. These cautions were the themes of two workshops presented at our center¿"Shadows of Limitation" and "Sweet Are the Uses of Adversity"¿that form the basis of this book. If we identify with the ego, our limitations become cause for comparison and judgment, and thereby impel us to seek ways to overcome the imperfections in our bodies and the world. This focus serves the ego's purpose of concealing the mind's decision for guilt, substituting a limited self for the unlimited Self of Christ. Identifying with the loving Presence of the Holy Spirit in our right minds, we recognize our self-defeating choice, thus allowing true correction to heal. We now look kindly on our imperfections, redefining them not as our reality but as mere detours on our journey home. These shadows of limitation become the contours of the classroom that Jesus uses to teach us his kind lessons of forgiveness. Thus do they ultimately fade in the light of the Atonement, in which we are all joined as the one perfect Son of God.

Book excerpt: The idea for this book originated with a talk given at the end of a week-long class on sickness and healing at our Center. The teaching staff was struck by the paradox of students on the one hand spending a week discussing healing, in terms of forgiveness and undoing separation, and on the other, fervently practicing judgment and condemnation of each other?directly opposite to the kind, gentle tone of Jesus' words in A Course in Miracles. This talk thus was devoted to the kindness of healing, in hopes of reinforcing Jesus' message of undoing separation. Kindness reflects our inherent oneness with each other, while attack drives us still further apart in our awareness. In reviewing the principles of sickness and healing and some common misapplications, the discussion in this book helps us undo the sources of unkindness, so that in all our interactions we would reflect the Source of kindness. It is hoped that this little book will serve to remind us all of the need to be kind, the spiritual principle par excellence."Kindness created me kind."

When we allow ourselves to be bound to the past by an unwillingness to forgive--"or to be forgiven--"we limit our wholeness and ability to be all that God intended us to be. Though often difficult, the steps we can take toward forgiveness are steps that bring us closer to a healthy relationship with God and with others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teilhard de Chardin, called “the greatest prophet of this age”, intended to write a book called “The Book of Peace,” though he failed to do so. Instead, he went on sowing the seeds of peace throughout his writings. This book distills and presents the essence of the case Teilhard made for the cause of peace. There is no doubt that Teilhard’s readers have noticed how difficult his thought can be, and how puzzling it appears at times. This volume navigates the complexity of those labyrinthine roads, inviting the reader to confidently “see” the basic unity which underlies all that is. When we recognize that we live in the Divine Milieu, where we witness the transforming presence of the divine in human consciousness, we will existentially realize the truth of the principle by which Teilhard wanted us to live.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nothing is . . . neither fuller nor better in heaven and earth Every authentic love story is, in its essence, a journey toward God, and every time we truly love, we unveil the face of God because God is love (1 John 4:16). No wonder Thomas Kempis affirmed that nothing is sweeter than love, nothing stronger, nothing higher, nothing wider, nothing more pleasant, nothing fuller nor better in heaven and earth because love is born of God and cannot rest but in God, above all things. But if it is so, why in the world do we find ourselves very often dissatisfied with our love life and why do we have so many dysfunctional relationships with our families, neighbors, and others? Why do we seem to love to hate each other and make enemies rather than friends not only with individuals and groups but also with other nations as well? What is missing from our earthly love? What has happened to love? To these questions and to many more, Dr. Maalouf, whose focus is one of gentle revolution in human development, as leading critics said when describing his prolific works, Is suggesting here a different way of seeing the reality of love? Although it is based on psychological, sociological, philosophical, and theological principles, this adopted way conveys the message through a poetic, contemplative, and mystical method in the style of Meister Eckhart and St. John of the Cross. This is not intended to be a comprehensive study on love, but a fresh awakening to the existential, deeper, and richer level of consciousness of the living love, for the love of one another (John 13:34) is not just a commodity for social arrangement, but the evidence of our divine origin and destiny and the critical condition for our very survival. Thus, a book like this should be read meditativelythe way one listens to a great symphony or perceives a masterpiece in an art museumand comprehensively for it is not just the total sum of its paragraphs as a symphony and a painting are not the total sum of their different notes and colors. Thenwonder of wondersone will realize that there is nothing more mysterious, more magical, more life-changing than love. It is indeed the philosophers stone that converts whatever it touches into a golden reality. Then everything will start to make sense, for nothingnot even all the money in the worldcan buy the strength and the happiness of a true loving heart.
