Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Auburn Forest Engineering Research Unit of the U.S. Forest Service and the Mobility and Environmental Division of WES recently completed a series of tests to determine the application of the WES trafficability system to forestry problems. The tests were conducted in a dense, mixed, hardwood forest and a mature southern pine forest in the low-lying alluvial terrain near Vicksburg, Mississippi. The soils at the test site were wet, fine-grained soils classified as either CL or CH by the Unified Soil Classification System.
