Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With more than 100,000 copies in print, Living with the Passive-Aggressive Man draws on case histories from clinical psychologist Scott Wetzler’s practice to help you identify the destructive behavior, the root causes and motivations, and solutions. Do you know one of these men? The catch-me-if-you-can lover... Phil’s romantic and passionate one minute, distant and cold the next. The deviously manipulative coworker or boss... Jack denies resenting Nora’s rapid rise in the company, but when they’re assigned to work together on a project, he undermines her. The obstructionist, procrastinating husband... Bob keeps telling his wife he’ll finish the painting job he began years ago, but he never seems to get around to it. These are all classic examples of the passive-aggressive man. This personality syndrome—in which hostility wears a mask of passivity—is currently the number one source of men’s problems in relationships and on the job. In Living with the Passive-Aggressive Man, Scott Wetzler draws upon numerous case histories from his own practice to explain how and why the passive-aggressive man thinks, feels, and acts the way he does. Dr. Wetzler also offers advice on: • How to avoid playing victim, manager, or rescuer to the “P-A” • How to get his anger and fear into the open • How to help the “P-A” become a better lover, husband, and father • How to survive passive-aggressive game playing on the job Living with a man’s passive aggression can be an emotional seesaw ride. But armed with this book, you can avoid the bumpy landings.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Live Life Aggressively! What Self-Help Gurus Should Be Telling You is a much different take on the self-help genre. This book is a slap in the face! It will force the reader out of his or her comfort zone, and will move the reader to remember what he or she needs to know to move forward with purpose. It is about taking charge of your life, and striving for greatness, rather than accepting mediocrity, or a life of quiet desperation. This is what it means to live life aggressively! It means to live with strong purpose and resolve. This book covers areas that few have the courage to talk about, and that is the problem. It is the white elephant in the room that everyone wants to ignore. Instead of confronting this problem, most people waste time watching nonsense like reality television and texting all day long. Self-help books are so focused on making you feel good about yourself, that they fail to help you be honest with yourself. Without brutal honesty you will never move forward. Without a strong sense of purpose, and passion, you will never persevere through the inevitable plethora of hard times that are coming your way in life. People need to accept that they will suffer in order to lead a fulfilling life and that the suffering should be embraced rather than avoided. Embrace the suffering and avoid procrastination the true destroyer of hopes and dreams. This book's focus is to induce real/lasting change and that comes as result of being aggressively honest with yourself, using pressure to your advantage, running toward risk rather than away from it and having a clear vision of what you want and what you are willing to sacrifice to get it. Some of the unique topics covered in this book include: the importance of hormone optimization for well-being and achieving goals, why the real battles in life are within, the necessity of negative thinking, what really makes people happy, and why people should avoid being attached to the results of actions. 50% of profit from book sales will be going to two fantastic organizations. Lifequest Transitions a great organization that helps wounded warriors and the Nevada SCPA an excellent organization that helps abandoned animals find new homes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The past 25 years have seen a major paradigm shift in the field of violence prevention, from the assumption that violence is inevitable to the recognition that violence is preventable. Part of this shift has occurred in thinking about why violence occurs, and where intervention points might lie. In exploring the occurrence of violence, researchers have recognized the tendency for violent acts to cluster, to spread from place to place, and to mutate from one type to another. Furthermore, violent acts are often preceded or followed by other violent acts. In the field of public health, such a process has also been seen in the infectious disease model, in which an agent or vector initiates a specific biological pathway leading to symptoms of disease and infectivity. The agent transmits from individual to individual, and levels of the disease in the population above the baseline constitute an epidemic. Although violence does not have a readily observable biological agent as an initiator, it can follow similar epidemiological pathways. On April 30-May 1, 2012, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Forum on Global Violence Prevention convened a workshop to explore the contagious nature of violence. Part of the Forum's mandate is to engage in multisectoral, multidirectional dialogue that explores crosscutting, evidence-based approaches to violence prevention, and the Forum has convened four workshops to this point exploring various elements of violence prevention. The workshops are designed to examine such approaches from multiple perspectives and at multiple levels of society. In particular, the workshop on the contagion of violence focused on exploring the epidemiology of the contagion, describing possible processes and mechanisms by which violence is transmitted, examining how contextual factors mitigate or exacerbate the issue. Contagion of Violence: Workshop Summary covers the major topics that arose during the 2-day workshop. It is organized by important elements of the infectious disease model so as to present the contagion of violence in a larger context and in a more compelling and comprehensive way.

Book excerpt: "Phil keeps sending Ruth confusing signals about his feelings for her. He's romantic and passionate one minute, distant and retreating the next....Jack denies resenting Nora's rapid rise in the company. But when they are assigned to work together on a project, he neglects to give her crucial phone messages and undermines her with the client behind her back....Bob keeps assuring his wife he'll finish the painting job he began two years ago. But he never seems to make good on his word...." "The catch-me-if-you-can lover...the deviously manipulative co-worker or boss...the obstructionist, procrastinating husband...all are classic examples of the Passive-Aggressive Man. This personality syndrome - in which hidden hostility lurks treacherously behind a cooperative mask of passivity - is afflicting men in ever-increasing numbers today and creating havoc in its wake, complicating and destroying love and work relationships. Any woman who's involved with a Passive-Aggressive Man knows how maddening his behavior can be. He seduces you into intimacy but never seems to fully love you back. He makes promises and reneges on them. And, feeling misunderstood and self-righteous, he turns your grievances aside...and inside out, accusing you of having the problem!" "In Living with the Passive-Aggressive Man, clinical psychologist Scott Wetzler, chief of the division of psychology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, guides women through the labyrinth of passive-aggressive lopsided logic and convoluted power games. Drawing upon numerous case histories from his own practice, Dr. Wetzler explains how and why the Passive-Aggressive Man feels, thinks, and acts the way he does; reveals why certain women always seem to fall for this personality type; and offers practical suggestions for healing problem relationships. After drawing an in-depth profile of the "P-A" and his ten key traits, Dr. Wetzler tells women how to avoid playing Victim, Manager, or Rescuer to the Passive-Aggressive Man; how to get his anger and fear into the open; how to fight fairly (and get him to also); how to make up after things have cooled down; how to help the "P-A" become a better lover, husband, and father; how to survive passive-aggressive game-playing in the workplace." "Living with a man's passive aggression can be an emotional seesaw ride. But now, armed with the new understanding and strategies you'll gain from this book, you can avoid the bumpy landings and learn how to deal decisively with this mystifying form of psychological sabotage."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
