This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is tough balancing being a woman and a lady. It is even tougher being both domestically and professionally powerful. As society continues to accept women as equal power brokers, the rules of how to define, manage, and sustain it are ever-changing. It seems that success for women is often defined by an imaginary checklist: learn proper etiquette, get good grades in formative school, achieve higher education, and land a good job and/or a "good man." AND THEN WHAT? WHAT'S NEXT? When the "rulebooks" go away, women are often left to "figure it out" on their own. They must learn to laugh at and redefine what it means to be powerful. For the past 18 years I have been in a virtual fog about what to do next, who to be next, how to behave in the next situation. While there are numerous examples of phenomenal women who have achieved unprecedented success in business, and even greater success in work/life balance, there are limited platforms for women embarking on their "next phase" of life. Throughout the elevation of my career, I found myself relying on my own personal intuition and interpretation of what I saw the boys doing. With fingers crossed, I'd add a "plus up" feminine twist and hope for the best. Oftentimes, I stubbed my toes, acquired a few bumps and bruises and even made a complete fool of myself -- but through these experiences I learned what works and what doesn't. If this memoir arms one woman with the courage and know-how for what's next in her life, then my bruises and scars were well worth it. We as women need guidance, (and quite frankly: license) to think beyond what conventional teaching has taught us. We need the green light to GO in the boys' world, while still being able to kick our feet up with our female counterparts and coexist in both spaces authentically. What Mommy Never Told You provides alternative options in order to create success on your terms once the guidance, direction, and checklists of society expire. This book is meant to be an exploration of a woman's journey beyond the general rules and guidelines of adolescence, opening up a broader lens to the possibilities of the next stage in life. To the woman who is looking for the next thing in her life... yearning for the courage to get it done, I say... the time is N.O.W. (No Other Way).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mama of ten Abbie Halberstadt helps women humbly and gracefully rise to the high calling of motherhood without settling for mediocrity or losing their minds in the process. Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive. As a daughter of Christ, you have been called to be more than an average mama. Attaining excellence doesn’t have to be unsettling but it will take committed focus and a desire to parent well according to God’s grace and for His glory. M is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom. Mama, you are worthy of the awesome responsibility God has given you. Now it’s time to start believing you can live up to it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “You will devour these beautifully written—and very important—tales of honesty, pain, and resilience” (Elizabeth Gilbert, New York Times bestselling author of Eat Pray Love and City of Girls) from fifteen brilliant writers who explore how what we don’t talk about with our mothers affects us, for better or for worse. As an undergraduate, Michele Filgate started writing an essay about being abused by her stepfather. It took her more than a decade to realize that she was actually trying to write about how this affected her relationship with her mother. When it was finally published, the essay went viral, shared on social media by Anne Lamott, Rebecca Solnit, and many others. This gave Filgate an idea, and the resulting anthology offers a candid look at our relationships with our mothers. Leslie Jamison writes about trying to discover who her seemingly perfect mother was before ever becoming a mom. In Cathi Hanauer’s hilarious piece, she finally gets a chance to have a conversation with her mother that isn’t interrupted by her domineering (but lovable) father. André Aciman writes about what it was like to have a deaf mother. Melissa Febos uses mythology as a lens to look at her close-knit relationship with her psychotherapist mother. And Julianna Baggott talks about having a mom who tells her everything. As Filgate writes, “Our mothers are our first homes, and that’s why we’re always trying to return to them.” There’s relief in acknowledging how what we couldn’t say for so long is a way to heal our relationships with others and, perhaps most important, with ourselves. Contributions by Cathi Hanauer, Melissa Febos, Alexander Chee, Dylan Landis, Bernice L. McFadden, Julianna Baggott, Lynn Steger Strong, Kiese Laymon, Carmen Maria Machado, André Aciman, Sari Botton, Nayomi Munaweera, Brandon Taylor, and Leslie Jamison.

Kaplan, creator of Disney’s T.V. show Dog with a Blog, comes the debut picture book of the Betty Bunny series. It's a story about patience—seen through the eyes of a precocious preschooler. Betty Bunny is the youngest in her family of rabbits and she’s just discovering the important things in life, like chocolate cake. She declares, “I am going to marry chocolate cake” and takes a piece to school with her in her pocket. Mom values healthy eating and tells Betty Bunny she needs patience when it comes to dessert. But Betty Bunny doesn’t want patience, she wants chocolate cake! In this funny tribute to chocolate lovers (and picky eaters), Betty Bunny’s charming perspective on patience will be recognizable to anyone with a preschooler in their life.

Book excerpt: This remarkable book is specifically designed for students, teachers, parents, attorneys, health care professionals, law enforcement officials and any individuals who are concerned about the welfare of minor children in our society. This book addresses some of the psychological and political issues around female sexual offenders. This book also serves as a guiding tool to help professionals identify the long term consequences of childhood sexual trauma, and the offender's inability to deal effectively with external strssors (i.e employment, treatment and criminal justice system) due to societal barriers. Because of limited research and information on female sexual perpetrators, effective intervention by both, healthcare professionals and law enforcemcent officials is poor, unless they have a clear understanding of this social phenomena. Statistics show that there are approximately 2.5. million cases of female sexual perpetrators within the United States. And there are approximately three million reported cases of individuals who have been victimized by female sexual offenders, which does not include human trafficking. The book examines the severity of the problem and gives testimonies of female sexual offenders who were subjected to psychological mutilation by both, their childhood sexual experiences, and as an adult. Presently, there are no clear diagnostic guidelines that constitute female sex offending nor standarized interviewing procedures to protect minor children who have been sexually abused. It is my hopes that this book will support the need for further clinical research, modification of currnet legislative laws around child sexual abuse, and provide further training for healthcare providers, eduators and law enforcement officials.
