Book excerpt: Eleven-year-old Sarah Stone is lonely in a mansion amidst butlers, nannies, housekeepers, and a father who is too busy for her. She is angry at the world. On the other side of town, in a slum called the Sink, Jared Roberts and his gang barely survive broken families and a hardscrabble existence. Jared, too, is angry, and intends to do something about it. He eyes Sarah's mansion for a pre-Christmas burglary that will show the world who he really is.Into this mix comes a mysterious little man named Nicholas, who intrigues, yet scares, Sarah and Jared. Against incredible doubt and cynicism, Nicholas tries to guide the two youths away from their anger and the suffering that will follow, only to realize he can not move them. Finally, he whisks them to another time and place where a Christmas long ago teaches them the true meaning of life in a way they never imagined.MARY'S SON is a modern tale of the fears and passions of youth overcome by the wonder of the real Christmas story.

Book excerpt: Marys Son is a fictional account of how Mary, the mother of our Savior, dealt with the challenges of his three-year ministry. She not only had to deal with the daily rejection of the people in the village of Nazareth but also the doubts of her children. Who is this young carpenter who left his mother in the olive grove to go off and find his cousin, John, who claims to be the forerunner of the Messiah? Mary is aware that he is Gods son, and that he is destined for something special. But what is Gods plan for him? What does she tell her close friends and neighbors who love and support her? How does she convince her children to continue to have faith when their brother is performing miracles and claiming to be the Messiah? And how does she, as a mother, deal with the religious leaders rejection of him and threats to kill him? Finally, how does she cope with his trial before the Sanhedrin and Pilate, along with his flogging and crucifixion? This book is a sequel to my first book, Joseph the Carpenter from Nazareth. Both books are my perception of what took place during Jesuss family life and his ministrys impact on his mother and siblings. Because this book is work of fiction, I have paraphrased most of the scripture used. I encourage my readers to read all four of the Gospels because I intentionally left out most of the scripture where Jesus is speaking only to his disciples.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Son of Mary offers new solutions to some persistent exegetical problems in the interpretation of three of the most puzzling passages in the Gospel of John, and does so in a way that illuminates the social-cultural context to the New Testament world. Old Testament resonances are heard here afresh: The miracle at Cana is seen in the light of God's people living without the wine of God's blessing, and Jesus' interaction with his brothers is placed alongside the story of Joseph. Margaret Wesley explores the world of kinship relationships in First Century Palestine, discovering how an understanding of family expectations and obligations can illuminate Jesus' words and actions and guide our relationships within the church as sisters and brothers of one another and as daughters and sons of God. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus are understood in a fresh way as the creation of a new family. Margaret demonstrates a mastery of current research while drawing on a wide range of primary patristic sources. She shows a respectful yet firm and assertive spirit when dealing with controversy.

The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century. And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus’ social, family, and political life. The Lost Gospel takes the reader on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is as astounding as it is surprising: the confirmation of Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus’ life (thirteen years prior to the crucifixion); an assassination attempt against Mary Magdalene and their children; Jesus’ connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul—the Church of Mary Magdalene.Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

Book excerpt: The practical commentary on Luke's Gospel is written for pastoral co-workers and for the faithful. It is a solid help for a better, deeper and more profound understanding of biblical teaching and it will help to preach the Good News more convincingly always and everywhere. The conception of this commentary follows the principle of "Lectio Divina" in five steps according to Pope Benedict XVI: to read the "Word of God", meditate/reflect on it, pray with it and internalize it, as well as live out the biblical message. In doing so, the Christian lifestyle will be inspired biblically.
