Rather than live a cloistered life of seclusion, the Daughters of Saint Paul actively embrace social media to evangelize, collectively calling themselves the #MediaNuns. In this collective memoir, eight of these Sisters share their own discernment journeys, struggles and crises of faith that they have overcome, and episodes from their daily lives. They offer practical takeaways and tips for living a more spiritually-fulfilled life, no matter your religious affiliation. -- adapted from jacket

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Religion of Life examines the interconnections and relationship between Catholicism and eugenics in early twentieth-century Chile. Specifically, it demonstrates that the popularity of eugenic science was not diminished by the influence of Catholicism there. In fact, both eugenics and Catholicism worked together to construct the concept of a unique Chilean race, la raza chilena. A major factor that facilitated this conceptual overlap was a generalized belief among historical actors that male and female gender roles were biologically determined and therefore essential to a functioning society. As the first English-language study of eugenics in Chile, The Religion of Life surveys a wide variety of different materials (periodicals, newspapers, medical theses, and monographs) produced by Catholic and secular intellectuals from the first half of the twentieth century. What emerges from this examination is not only a more complex rendering of the relationship between religion and science but also the development of White supremacist logics in a Latin American context.

The five chapters of this book describe the central concepts and arguments now advancing the study of religious practice. Chapter 1, entitled "Theories", discusses the theoretical contributions associated with the aforementioned shift in religious studies to the investigation of religious practice. Chapter 2, "Situations", discusses how religious activities and experiences are shaped by the physical and temporal spaces in which social action occurs. Chapter 3, "Intentions", takes on an important topic that has proven difficult to study from a social science perspective. "Feelings" are the focus of Chapter 4, and the role of "Bodies" is addressed in Chapter 5. .

In my passion to spread God's Word I've decided to put these blogs together as mini journals. I not only want to help spread God's good Word but I also desire to help others or non-believers know and understand how we as Christians should live in order to live the promised life, a better, more abundantly-filled and happier life given to us by God. But in order to obtain the fulfillment of God's promises, we must choose to surrender to His Will and completely trust in Him. He loves us abundantly, unconditionally and more importantly, His love never fails!

Book excerpt: There has been increased interest among scholars in recent decades focused on the intersection of family and religion. Yet, there is still much that is not well-understood in this area. This aim of this special issue is to further explore the influence of religion on family life. In particular, this issue includes a collection of studies from leading scholars on religion and family life that focus on ways in which religion and spirituality may influence various aspects of family life including family processes, family structure, family formation, family dissolution, parenting, and family relationships. The studies included incorporate both qualitative and quantitative analyses, incorporate a number of different religious traditions, focus on religiosity among both adults and youth, and explore a number of important issues such as depression, intimacy, sexual behavior, lying, divorce, and faith transmission.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How many of us know who we are at our core? How often do we take the time to understand what God is speaking to us now? Is the journey with God meant to be one where we mindlessly live it, abandoned to simply react to what we see on our own? Is there more for us? Is there good or better? Where is Christ Jesus in our everyday lives? What now? Considering 2022 and beyond—If you are ready to peel back the layers of your life and explore your personal, Christian journey, The Annual Life Journal is for you! The past couple of years have been years like no other. They have been polarizing, perplexing, scary, challenging, and passionate. We have seen the best of us and the worst of us. We are all grappling with what to do next, trying to understand what the Spirit of God is saying to us. Can we hear clearly? So many emotions are running hot, yet God is still speaking. Are we listening? Can we calm down long enough to hear His still, small Voice? Are we able to find a safe way to channel our fears, frustrations, doubts, lack of understanding, sadness, anxiety, disappointments, grief, and losses? I believe God’s answer to us is, “Yes.” But, we must journey with the Lord in order for this to happen. There is no other way. This Journal is a resource to center our attention where it should be—in life with Christ by the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Jesus suffered, bled, died, and was resurrected for our lives. This Journal is your invitation to come to the well, seek, understand; and place your hopes, dreams, aspirations, families, health, finances, emotions, relationships—the totality of your life and being—in Christ. The Journal is equally a comprehensive guide to help you navigate life. Purchase your copy today. The Lord be with you as you journey, My Friend. May it be well with you always!
