Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have had the privilege of knowing Valentina since 1991. We met in church and as a christian brother, in a Christ centered relationship, I have had the opportunity of encouraging Valentina as she courageously followed the steps of the Master as HE led her into the ministry of an evangelist on the streets, bringing in prostitutes, drug addicts and the homeless to the altar in church and on street corners where they presented their hearts and lives to Jesus. Valentina then entered the skid row of Vancouver where she ministered at the Revival Center Mission, Gospel Mission and the Rainbow Mission, not only serving food but preached the Word for over 14 years as well as ministering in a nursing home once every month faithfully preaching and encouraging the aged to believe in the Lord she so loved, trusted and served. I watched as she stepped into the Open Door Ministry; a house where God moved in the lives of 4 homeless souls at a time by the intercession of the prayer warrior for a period of 4 years. By this time, I knew that this was a gal that trusted In the Good Shepherd with her life, and especially so, as she opened up her take-out restaurant, named Little Spot, centered right smack in the tracks of the drug pushers who became her ministry. Valentina has been a product that introduced her Savior to many lost and hurting, but, I believe that her greater works are still just around the corner. Book excerpt: Who were John Alexander Dowie, Maria Woodworth-Etter, and Smith Wigglesworth? Who were Charles Price, William Branham, Aimee Semple McPherson, and A.A. Allen? Who were these people who carried the mantle of the healing evangelist in the twentieth century? The era of the great tent meetings and healing revivals was covered with both glory and controversy. Don Stewart experienced it first-hand -- he was mentored by A.A. Allen in the 1960's. His eyewitness accounts, personal remembrances, and documented stories reveal the truth of the tragedies and the triumphs of many of these men and women of God. The day of huge tent meetings may be over, but the mighty power and presence of the Holy Spirit is still in the earth! God is still using human vessels to demonstrate His love and grace to hurting people. Discover how the timeless legacy of these ministers of God continues to affect our Christian culture today and into the next millennium.

Book excerpt: Some people find it hard to trust in God even though they can feel the force of arguments in favor of Christianity. And even those who believe in God can sometimes find it difficult to continue trusting Him. Often emotional factors block our faith in God. Shame, disappointment, fear or pain can have a significant influence on our ability to enter the Christian faith and to continue growing in it. Dr. Rietkerk firmly believes that substantial healing is possible and offers practical guidelines for dealing with emotional difficulties. With questions for group discussion at the end of each chapter this book is an invaluable guide for counselors, pastors, parents and youth leaders. Dr. Wim Rietkerk is the leader of the Dutch branch of L'Abri Fellowship and a pastor of the Dutch reformed church. The last six years he served in the city counsel of Utrecht and spends time with his eight grandchildren. The insights shared in this book result from his study of the Scriptures, his work as a pastor, the study of psychology, his extensive experience as a counselor at L'Abri, and as an international conference speaker.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to help you live your life, and to shed some light on your own values and ethics, if you don’t believe in God. More than just a primer on Humanism, but not quite a full-blown treatise on philosophy, it offers some answers to those crucial questions Socrates asked: What is true? And how shall we live our lives? Those of us who don’t believe in the supernatural sometimes struggle to understand how we can ground ourselves ethically, and how to find truth, meaning, purpose and joy. This book offers ideas about how to know, without depending on Holy Scriptures or guidance from a deity, what it means to lead a good and ethical life. “Humanism is a value system whose time has come: a positive philosophy for the surging proportion of the world’s population who indicate ‘None’ as their religion but seek meaning, morality, and purpose in their lives. Michael Werner’s statement of Humanism is clear, effective, and graceful, just right for our times.” Steven Pinker, professor of psychology, Harvard University author, “The Better Angels of Our Nature” and “How the Mind Works.” “Mike Werner captures the depth and breadth of Humanism in his latest work. He shows us what love, reason, imagination and science can have in common. In doing so, he demonstrates what we all have to live for, strive for, and believe in.” Roy Speckhardt, executive director, American Humanist Association “Outstanding and a must read for everyone who takes life seriously.” Rev. William R. Murry, former president, Meadville Lombard Theological School, University of Chicago
