Book excerpt: I like to find the time to write what is on my mind which translates into poems. Hurt to Heal came into existence after a breakup. This book brings you along my personal experience of a heartbreak. One must hurt (face one's emotions) to be able to heal (free oneself from pain) from a heartbreak. In the book, the poems are also presented in way that transitions progressively from a place of hurt to a place of healing, accompanied with multiple self-reflections in between each poem. These self-reflections come from a place of healing, clarity and new perspective. I hope that my poems can help the reader in their healing journey.

Book excerpt: A remarkable Pocket Poets anthology of poems from around the world and across the centuries about illness and healing, both physical and spiritual. From ancient Greece and Rome up to the present moment, poets have responded with sensitivity and insight to the troubles of the human body and mind. Poems of Healing gathers a treasury of such poems, tracing the many possible journeys of physical and spiritual illness, injury, and recovery, from John Donne’s “Hymne to God My God, In My Sicknesse” and Emily Dickinson’s “The Soul has Bandaged moments” to Eavan Boland’s “Anorexic,” from W.H. Auden’s “Miss Gee” to Lucille Clifton’s “Cancer,” and from D.H. Lawrence’s “The Ship of Death” to Rafael Campo’s “Antidote” and Seamus Heaney’s “Miracle.” Here are poems from around the world, by Sappho, Milton, Baudelaire, Longfellow, Cavafy, and Omar Khayyam; by Stevens, Lowell, and Plath; by Zbigniew Herbert, Louise Bogan, Yehuda Amichai, Mark Strand, and Natalia Toledo. Messages of hope in the midst of pain—in such moving poems as Adam Zagajewski’s “Try to Praise the Mutilated World,” George Herbert’s “The Flower,” Wisława Szymborska’s “The End and the Beginning,” Gwendolyn Brooks’ “when you have forgotten Sunday: the love story” and Stevie Smith’s “Away, Melancholy”—make this the perfect gift to accompany anyone on a journey of healing. Everyman's Library pursues the highest production standards, printing on acid-free cream-colored paper, with full-cloth cases with two-color foil stamping, decorative endpapers, silk ribbon markers, European-style half-round spines, and a full-color illustrated jacket.

Book excerpt: Define Me, Divine Me: A Poetic Display of Affection is an exploration of raw truth that provokes our deepest emotions so that we may honor both the light and the dark within us all. Together, we allow the words of enlightened wisdom and painful beginnings to wash through us, as we stand back up and claim what is rightfully ours. As you devour these words with precision, you too will reflect on your own life’s journey, and realize that we are more connected than once thought. The idealism of loneliness will expire, and a new celebration of unity will take its place. Our journey inwards is never-ending, and the wisdom we are learning, we already know. It’s just a matter of removing the layers of our perceived reality and embedded beliefs to get to the core of our Eternal Self. So that we may reveal who it is that we really are: A Divine Creation of Angelic Energy. And as you choose to show the world your authentic self, you will find the peace, happiness, and love that you are seeking. Here is your new vocabulary to raise your vibration higher, or to sit with the shadows if that is what you seek. It is a creative space to nurture and inspire your restless Soul. An eclectic mix of vibrations molded into words from me to you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healing Myself, One Rhyme at a Time presents a collection of poetry by Donna Sivoli. She began writing as a small girl when she discovered that it wasn't easy to express her thoughts and feelings in her childhood home. Instead, she wrote notes and buried them in the backyard, only to dig them up later. As an adult, she began writing poetry and stories as a sort of self-therapy in an attempt to heal herself from a dysfunctional and abusive childhood. In these verses, she writes about family and her early love for her older brother, and how that love was destroyed through betrayal and all the other emotional ups and downs of growing up in a dysfunctional family, especially the hurt and the confusion when things are not as they appear to be. ""Healing Myself, One Rhyme at a Time is a memoir in poem and story... a hero's journey that inspires us to find our way to healing and wholeness.... It is raw, it is honest, it is love." -Shelley Morningsong, singer/songwriter

Book excerpt: Journaling has such an impact on who we are as individuals and how we process emotions. During some really difficult times in my life, I journaled through my feelings by writing poetry and reflective pieces. Sometimes, I built shrines to yesterday and scripted tomorrow. Other times reflected on others and their pain. Doing this helped me remain self-aware and learn how to communicate my thoughts effectively and thoroughly. (Some would say too thoroughly!) This book is a collection of pieces that provide a glimpse into some chapters in my life that I've now closed so I can become what I once thought impossible. As I've learned to live fully in this moment, I've started turning my dreams into accomplishments on a new level I never knew was possible for me. The experiences represented have made an impact on my life but no longer drive who I am and how I respond to life. I stopped remembering my script for tomorrow and instead enjoy the space of time I am occupying so fully that it opens me up to new possibilities. My hope in writing this book is that you will let it speak to those hurt and shattered places within you that feel beyond repair. If you do that, I believe you will find the beginning of your healing, a key to stepping out of your prison, and the first opportunity to truly believe you have a voice others need to hear. Because you do.

I was becoming the person I knew was within. Grief arises from many sources, but the sorrow that comes from the estrangement of a living child can be devastating. In a compilation of heartfelt poems, Claire Cunning shares verse with the hope of lovingly guiding others in the same situation through the stages of grief that emerge from a severed relationship with a loved one. With a focus on providing strength and solace through her writings, Claire delves into the complexities of estrangement and how it affects the core of a family while reassuring others that they are not alone in their quest for peace, acceptance, and hope that one day, their soul will heal. Poems from the Heart for Hope and Healing is a collection of verse dedicated to those who have experienced the hurt and devastation of estrangement from a loved one, penned by one who knows and understands.
