Somewhere, someone left a gate open; somewhere, someone failed to guard a gate and the enemy seized the opportunity to break in and run off with the good stuff. There is a growing, holy roar in the kingdom of God and amongst His people. They are awake and want their things back! God has provided a divine strategy to regain possession of the gates. That strategy is found in our radical obedience to Him. The battle begins with the reconstruction of individual gates first. Who's Guarding the Gates? is the engaging question that every person must ask and be prepared to answer.Nancy Robinson serves as an Elder at The Word Church in Cleveland, OH, which is under the leadership of Dr. R.A. Vernon and First Lady Victory Vernon. She conducts training sessions and facilitates classes for altar workers, intercessors, and congregants that focus on spiritual warfare and enriching their personal walk with God. Robinson graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. She is certified through the Caribbean Ministerial Academy of Tuscaloosa, Alabama in Studies in the Life of Christ, and by AACC (the American Academy of Christian Counselors) for studies in Christian Counseling. Nancy has also received an Associate's Degree equivalent in Black Biblical Studies from the McCreary Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Who's Guarding the Gates? is her first literary work. The author is a devoted mother of two children, Ariel and Akira, and doting grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters, Aiyana and Tiasha. www.whosguardingthegates.com

Book excerpt: National security has always been an integral consideration in immigration policy, never more so than in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. This is the first history of American immigration policy written in the post-9/11 environment to focus specifically on the role of national security considerations in determining that policy. As LeMay makes clear, this is not the first time America has worried about letting foreigners through our gates. By the time readers reach the final chapter, in which current policies regarding the interplay between immigration and national security are discussed, they have the historical perspective necessary to assess the pros and cons of what is happening today. They are able to more clearly answer questions such as: Does putting the Immigration and Naturalization Service under the Department of Homeland Security make the country more secure? Do vigilantes improve border security? How are we handling the balance between national security and civil liberties compared to the ways in which we handled it during World Wars I and II and the Cold War? LeMay does not advocate a specific policy; rather, he gives citizens and students the tools to make up their own minds about this enduringly controversial issue.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a clear and intentional onslaught against the spiritual ‘gates’. This has been revealed by the Lord. This is not an attack for the ‘now’ but an attack that has always existed. This is an attack that is escalating, intensifying and becoming more vicious than ever before. It is an attack to lead people away from God, thus an attack of the destruction of the person. And we are talking here about the ‘gate’ – entry point – of nations, of cities, of homes, of families, and our very lives. A gate is a strategic point. It is a point of legally ‘controlling’ what goes in and goes out of the ‘city’. The enemy is laying siege to gain entry, for once he has entered through the ‘gate’, he comes to steal, to destroy and to kill. For the Lord has shown the enemy has come like an assassin, like a thief and as a destroyer.

Book excerpt: From the 1870s until the Great Depression, immigration was often the question of the hour in Canada. Politicians, the media, and an array of interest groups viewed it as essential to nation building, developing the economy, and shaping Canada's social and cultural character. One of the groups most determined to influence public debate and government policy on the issue was organized labour, and unionists were often relentless critics of immigrant recruitment. Guarding the Gates is the first detailed study of Canadian labour leaders' approach to immigration, a key battleground in struggles between different political factions within the labour movement. This book provides new insights into labour, immigration, social, and political history.
