Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advance Praise for Gravity's Arc "A beautifully written exposition of the still mysterious force that holds our universe together--and the even more mysterious dark twin that may blow it apart." --Joshua Gilder, coauthor of Heavenly Intrigue "A lucid book as up-to-date as the effect of gravity on the bones of astronauts." --Denis Brian, author of The Unexpected Einstein How did they do it? How did one of the greatest geniuses who ever lived retard the study of gravity for 2,000 years? How did a gluttonous tyrant with a gold nose revolutionize our view of the solar system? How could an eccentric professor shake the foundations of an entire belief system by dropping two objects from a tower? How did a falling apple turn the thoughts of a reclusive genius toward the moon? And how could a simple patent clerk change our entire view of the universe by imagining himself riding on a beam of light? In Gravity's Arc, you'll discover how some of the most colorful, eccentric, and brilliant people in history first locked, then unlocked the door to understanding one of nature's most essential forces. You'll find out why Aristotle's misguided conclusions about gravity became an unassailable part of Christian dogma, how Galileo slowed down time to determine how fast objects fall, and why Isaac Newton erased every mention of one man's name from his magnum opus Principia. You'll also figure out what Einstein meant when he insisted that space is curved, whether there is really such a thing as antigravity, and why some scientists think that the best way to get to outer space is by taking an elevator.

Book excerpt: The computer program SAGG (Satellite Altimetry and Ground Gravity) has been used to determine the global geoid and the earth's gravity field, based on the combination of altimetric observations and gravity anomalies. A typical feature of SAGG is the simultaneous recovery of the orbit parameters and the spherical harmonic potential coefficients. The short arc adjustment mode makes these determinations possible without the requirement of highly precise reference orbits. In this mode, the state vector components are subject to adjustment and represent, in fact, a set of independent weighted parameters. Orbits good to approximately 20 m are adequate for precise reductions. Altimetric data processed by SAGG was gathered by the GEOS-3 satellite over adjacent portions of the Indian and South Pacific Oceans and a portion of the NORTH Atlantic; gravity anomaly data is represented by mean anomalies from over 2200 1 deg x 1 deg geographic blocks. The recovered geoid over most of the globe shows good agreement with gravimetric geoids. This is especially true of the areas covered by GEOS-3 when compared with the earlier reported results of the AFGL computer program SARRA (Short Arc Reduction of Radar Altimetry).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gravity is the most detectable physical phenomenon of the universe. Nothing or nobody can escape its grasp, even in very large, astronomical distances. It is manifested in many aspects of our lives. Yet we are still not really sure what carries it. The gradually increasing understanding of gravity throughout history and its observed effects in various physical fields are the subjects of this book. This is an enlightening read about one of the most misterious phenomena of our lives that is still far from being fully understood, presenting a historical journey through several millennia of encountering and understanding gravity's mysteries.

The product of 17 years of research, this book contains never before revealed truths about swing mechanics which give insights to how our effortless swings occur & how we can experience them more often. The research, based on fundamental physics & efficient motion, has produced the first physics pure analysis of the swing in the history of golf. The book is written in an easy, flowing, &, at times, funny style which makes for easy reading while flooding the reader with original, logical information about the swing & how humans learn to swing. The experience of soaking in this book leads the reader to the conclusion that they've finally found "THE SECRET." Truly the most enlightening information in years, & free of any teaching aids required by so many of the current swing training methods, Lee's concepts were originally endorsed by Jack Nicklaus in 1977, & have gained acclaim from others such as Chi Chi Rodriguez, Rocky Thompson, numerous members of the medical & scientific community & countless amateurs at all levels.
