Through her inspirational meditations on the ebb and flow of life, love, happiness, and hope, Judy calls you to stop awhile to reflect and rekindle your soul. Poetry of Days unfolds through compelling life encounters, and even a poignant remembrance of radio legend, Paul Harvey. McNutt's meditations, wisdom, and visual renderings are powerfully familiar, yet soft, distinctive and fresh. She finds inspiration in the beauty of her garden, classic poetry and prose, films, spiritual masters and social media. The pages are designed with ample writing space; an invitation for your personal thoughts and reflections. We feel that Judy's work exemplifies the spirit of Paradigm Journal, not to mention being something others will undoubtedly find exciting, inspiring, and worthwhile. Matthew Norris, Co-Publisher, Paradigm Journal This is a really beautiful book of poetry. Her poems spoke to me on a soul level, and I have nothing but praise for her work. She's done an excellent job here. Bev Sninchak, Author, editor and writing coach About the Author: A former radio programmer.

Book excerpt: When thirteen-year-old Nathan loses both his parents, Social Services seems likely to be his next stop. Surprisingly, his maternal grandfather, a freewheeling soul if ever there was one, steps in to offer guardianship and support. Can Grampa nurture the young teen appropriately? Will Grampa help Nathan navigate the trauma he suffered at the hands of his abusive father? Does Grampa understand what happens at school? Can he advise Nathan about girls and dating and sex? Can Nathan live up to his grandfather’s principles? Although Grampa is a pot-smoking, latte-drinking, porch-sitting kind of guy, he is also a force to be reckoned with. Having rejected many of society’s norms for himself, how will he react if Nathan chooses not to follow his lead? Will Grampa’s stories, outlook on life, and unique philosophies be sufficient to guide Nathan through all life has to offer—the good, the bad, and the otherwise? Will Grampa’s powerful example provide the tools that Nathan needs to become the man he wants to be? Grampa’s Way is a simple coming of age tale for Nathan and a heartwarming story about a boy and his grandfather. This story offers an alternative way to think about the structure of family, to imagine wealth, and to exist as individuals in an often complex and hurtful world. Grampa’s Way encourages respect, acceptance, kindness, and generosity as lifelong pursuits.

A dark wizard is on the loose with a head start and the entire galaxy in which to hide. Their only lead? A mystical connection that Mort doesn't want to talk about. To make matters worse, their target has an accomplice, and it's someone Mort isn't inclined to get rough with. On the homefront, Brad is grounded both literally and figuratively. Stranded on a retrovert planet with nothing to do, he's forced to make his own fun. And what better way to liven up a dull planet than to run a scam on the people responsible: his family. Sixteen Tomes is the eighth mission of Black Ocean: Mirth & Mayhem. It follows a mismatched duo of itinerant comedian and outlaw wizard as they roam the galaxy trying to eke out a living and stay ahead of the consequences of their actions. Chuck, Mort, and their sometimes-accomplice Brad seek to cheat the galaxy out of an honest living. No law goes unscoffed at. No truth gets uttered when a lie might make more money. And if the job involves murder... well, that's wizard's work. Mission 5: Viva Las Vega IX Gambling, betrayal, and a backroom deal to deliver cargo—no questions asked—collide in a seedy casino with its own comedy club. Plus, a fugitive wizard has found shelter among the upper echelons of a major syndicate. Wait, syndicates control Vega IX? I'm shocked! Mission 6: Ventura Starway In a remote section of space, a convoy of ships gathers around a central flagship to buy, sell, and trade. You can find anything if you're willing to pay the price, including more trouble than you bargained for. This goes double if you're looking to rob the place. Mission 7: Fly Like an Ego Summer camp goes horribly wrong. Instead of racing for fun and glory, Brad finds himself fighting for his life. But what if the pirates who take him hostage happen to be hiring? Mission 8: Sixteen Tomes Mort had one job: track down a dark wizard, kill him, and collect any records of his research. Simple. Done it a hundred times before. But this is the first time it's been personal. Bonus Short Story: Dread Poet Society Emily Chisholm has a plan: finish grad school and settle down with her girlfriend. But when her grandmother summons her home to take her rightful place as leader of the Poet Fleet, Emily's well-laid plans start to crumble. Can the heir to the galaxy's most notorious pirate fleet convince the love of her life to embrace a life of piracy? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A memoir and a history, Grampas Left Arm tells the story of Jakob Tirjan and Annie Kaufold, immigrants who settled in southeastern Pennsylvania in the early 1900s. Their village on the Austro-Hungarian eastern frontier faded into history when the province of Galicia came under Polish rule after WWI. The Authors curiosity about the origins of his name led him to explore Eastern Europes troubled twentieth century history and the societal transformations which shaped his political perspective of the United States. Ethnic clashes, the Red Scare, the KKK, fair wages and strikes, even the Business Plot were all heated topics around the dining table. These arguments planted the seeds of curiosity about the origin of his name. No one in his family knew for sure if Grampa Tirjan was really Austrian, as he claimed, or exactly where he had come from. But they all agreed that greedy captains of industry and politicians had their own interests at heart and working men and women had to look out for themselves. Jim Tirjans post-WW II all-American boyhood echoed many of the major events of the century: wars, the Depression, Communist spies, the isolation of rural life, lives painfully disrupted in modern industrial society and our fascination with and dependence on the automobile. Grampa Tirjan labored at Baldwin Locomotive Works while Grandma Annie ran a boarding house. Jims mother bought a new 1931 Plymouth for $530 with housekeeping wages. Jim picked string beans with prisoners and earned a masters degree. His story is told with humor and compassion and a great appreciation for the forces of history we ignore at our peril. Was Grampa Tirjan really an Austrian? Indeed and then some.

Book excerpt: New York Times Bestseller "I never thought science could be funny . . . until I read Frank Einstein. It will have kids laughing." —Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid "Huge laughs and great science—the kind of smart, funny stuff that makes Jon Scieszka a legend." —Mac Barnett, author of Battle Bunny and The Terrible Two Clever science experiments, funny jokes, and robot hijinks await readers in the first of six books in the New York Times bestselling Frank Einstein chapter book series from the mad scientist team of Jon Scieszka and Brian Biggs. The perfect combination to engage and entertain readers, the series features real science facts with adventure and humor, making these books ideal for STEM education. This first installment examines the science of “matter.” Kid-genius and inventor Frank Einstein loves figuring out how the world works by creating household contraptions that are part science, part imagination, and definitely unusual. In the series opener, an uneventful experiment in his garage-lab, a lightning storm, and a flash of electricity bring Frank’s inventions—the robots Klink and Klank—to life! Not exactly the ideal lab partners, the wisecracking Klink and the overly expressive Klank nonetheless help Frank attempt to perfect his inventions.. . . until Frank’s archnemesis, T. Edison, steals Klink and Klank for his evil doomsday plan! Integrating real science facts with wacky humor, a silly cast of characters, and science fiction, this uniquely engaging series is an irresistible chemical reaction for middle-grade readers. With easy-to-read language and graphic illustrations on almost every page, this chapter book series is a must for reluctant readers. The Frank Einstein series encourages middle-grade readers to question the way things work and to discover how they, too, can experiment with science. In a starred review, Kirkus Reviews raves, “This buoyant, tongue-in-cheek celebration of the impulse to ‘keep asking questions and finding your own answers’ fires on all cylinders,” while Publishers Weekly says that the series “proves that science can be as fun as it is important and useful.” Read all the books in the New York Times bestselling Frank Einstein series: Frank Einstein and the Antimatter Motor (Book 1), Frank Einstein and the Electro-Finger (Book 2), Frank Einstein and the BrainTurbo (Book 3), and Frank Einstein and the EvoBlaster Belt (Book 4).
