Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Definitions of grace identify one's religious affiliation in Christendom and one's attitude toward Bible content. This book gives the theological development of the word and presents evidence that the word does not mean "unmerited." Further, it is shown that to ignore this is to misinterpret Jesus' mission and reject the loving grace that He provides to us from His Father and our Judge.

Are you becoming a person who finds it easy to shift blame, deny guilt, or excuse moral failure in yourself or others? In this challenging yet compelling book, John MacArthur encourages you to confront the culture's flight from moral responsibility. With sound biblical truth, this book shows how and why sin must be dealt with if you are to live in a way that pleases God. With clairty and insight, John MacArthur provides you with solutions for attaining a personal holiness that can take you from living a life of blame and denial to one of peace and freedom. Praise for The Vanishing Conscience: ". . . a wake-up call and an alarm to jolt the sleeping church. Not all will like it, but all should read it. In this day of morality by majority, self-centered ministry, and twilight-zone theology, a clear word like this is long overdue." ?Dr. Adrian Rogers, Pastor, Bellevue Baptist Church ". . . a clear and prophetic word that we must hear and heed." ?Dr. Joseph M. Stowell, President, Moody Bible Institute "With the clarion call of a prophet, MacArthur points us back to something we have forgotten: the value and importance of a clean conscience." ?Greg Laurie, Senior Pastor, Harvest Christian Fellowship

Book excerpt: The subject of marriage is a timely subject. The Bible simply defines marriage as "a man takes a woman." Happiness and well-being in marriage is based on a specific design. This design along with society's mores, civil government expectations, and ecclesiastical laws and fantasies are addressed. Jesus' message is compared and/or contrasted with Moses, the Prophets, the Pharisees, the Apostles, and Medieval church leaders. Over 40 translations of the Bible were consulted in addition to comparing the ancient Hebrew with its Greek equivalents through interlinears, word studies, lexicons, dictionaries, textual variants, and scholastic articles and comments. The appendix gives the history of Christendom's changing positions on marriage, divorce, and remarriage.

Book excerpt: Volume 15 Sermons 848-907 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not only is Acts 2:38 a controversial text because of the mention of baptism "for the remission of sin" but also because of the second independent clause. The audience asks, "What shall we do?" Peter answers in two clauses. The second is, "You shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." What does that mean? West has taken a fresh look at the many passages dealing with the Holy Spirit. He revisits Acts 5:32 where much misunderstanding has arisen. West deals with the English and Greek grammar in the passages in the context of the entire Bible. The major views of the gift of the Holy Spirit are dealt with: (1) the gift is salvation; (2) the gift is supernatural signs; (3) the expression is metaphorical; (4) the gift is the Spirit Himself. Major problems that influence beliefs are (a) learned scholars use their theology instead of their scholarship, (b) the grammar is treated as a complex sentence instead of a compound one, and (c) passages such as Acts 5:29-32 are misused to prove what the gift is.

Book excerpt: Full colored illustrated book about the Trinity in the Old Testament. The unfolding plan of a caring God of creation who has not left us without witness nor without a teaching guide. The overall plan of God is first revealed in God's naming of the pre-flood patriarchs. Although the witnesses tell of the glory that they see and hear of the trinity, a physical description is not given by them. Since the Godhead is Spirit without our created flesh and blood, the illustrator draws from visions given in Daniel and Revelation.
