Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seventy-five percent of Americans claim religious affiliation, which can impact their taxpaying responsibilities. In this illuminating book, Samuel D. Brunson describes the many problems and breakdowns that can occur when tax meets religion in the United States, and shows how the US government has too often responded to these issues in an unprincipled, ad hoc manner. God and the IRS offers a better framework to understand tax and religion. It should be read by scholars of religion and the law, policymakers, and individuals interested in understanding the implications of taxation on their religious practices.

Book excerpt: Ken Jones, the eldest of five siblings, was born and raised in a poor section of Atlanta. As a child, Ken enjoyed the love of a Christian mother but faced severe emotional abuse from his father. After working as an Atlanta policeman and an insurance agent, Ken started an electronics store with a $30,000 loan. Ken's chain of stores eventually became a multimillion-dollar business. With all the wealth a man could ask for, Ken turned his back on God. But one crucial mistake would soon change everything, and Ken would be brought to his knees by the most powerful agency in our government: the IRS. Saved by the IRS is the amazing true story of how one man, facing unbelievable corruption, put his fate in God's hands and battled for seven years to save his life, his family, and his business. Against all odds and amid extreme adversity, Ken lived through an ordeal that gained national attention. Ken's legal cases are featured in textbooks in places as far away as Russia. In this incredible story of redemption, Ken exposes unthinkable corruption and finds that strength and faith often come from the most unlikely sources. Ken was truly Saved by the IRS.

Book excerpt: This book has two main objectives, the first is to show practical ways to save more of the money you earn by claiming your legal right to the tax deductions and the tax credits. And, as a believer you have the right to claim His promises in the Bible, every bit as much as you have the right to claim those deductions and tax credits in the Tax Code. Definitely not a one-time read. Take this book with you every where you go. Lots of people today see God as just a mere slice of the pie, not the whole pie. For many, God is just a department in the school of life. Quite the reverse view of GOD’s Kingdom. So this book points out the real ONE as being in-charge. Talk to Him and write your journals, just like keeping the books of the whole Chart of Accounts. Without Him this General Ledger will never be balanced. The P&L will always be on the red. See inside the process flowchart of the way to gain the benefits as a BELIEVER.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The church was established to serve the world with Christ-like love, not to rule the world. It is called to look like a corporate Jesus, dying on the cross for those who crucified him, not a religious version of Caesar. It is called to manifest the kingdom of the cross in contrast to the kingdom of the sword. Whenever the church has succeeded in gaining what most American evangelicals are now trying to get – political power – it has been disastrous both for the church and the culture. Whenever the church picks up the sword, it lays down the cross. The present activity of the religious right is destroying the heart and soul of the evangelical church and destroying its unique witness to the world. The church is to have a political voice, but we are to have it the way Jesus had it: by manifesting an alternative to the political, “power over,” way of doing life. We are to transform the world by being willing to suffer for others – exercising “power under,” not by getting our way in society – exercising “power over.”

Book excerpt: This book is written for the purpose of educating the freedom loving people, who believe in God and are aware of the evil the IRS represents. It is my intentions to educate the people with the knowledge of understanding the IRS, enabling them to make educated and deliberate decisions in dealing with this dishonest agency. I, the author have already walked the walk, and talked the talk, but ultimately, everyone will have to walk this same walk, in order to acquire their freedom. Freedom is not Free. In all cases Freedom requires a price be paid, but the purpose of this book is to help make it so much understandable and simpler. The main point is to keep Christ as the center of your focus, because that is where we all hope to end up, is where he is at. It is my prayer, that all people will believe in Christ and not fear. He has told us 365 times in the Bible to not fear. We just need to have knowledge and understand. This is the main purpose of this book, to help others understand. I have taken the first chapter from my previous book, "Two Churches Only", as a fitting beginning to this book, as I explain and show proof of how simple understanding the IRS is. Hopefully, by the end of it, people will begin to realize how they have been robbed by the IRS for years. There are several reasons this could happen. They either trust their government and believe that they wouldn't lie to them, or some church leader, acting as blind guides, are telling them, that to be Christian, is to do everything their government tells them to do. They tell them it is for their own good. Possibly the people are too gullible, or lazy to search out the truth for themselves. By reading this book all of the way through, is the first step to freeing yourself from the chains of bondage, and getting closer to God.

Book excerpt: This is a fully documented inside examination of the Internal Revenue Service, in many ways the largest and most powerful of all federal agencies, and also the agency whose competent function is most essential to our democracy. The book’s appearance in 1989 sparked a public furor and major legislation attempting to redress the IRS’ many abuses of power, both political and bureaucratic. The book will be a relevant handbook as long as the agency remains a towering presence in American life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the most infamous criminal proceeding in history--the trial of Jesus of Nazareth--have to tell us about capital punishment in the United States? Jesus Christ was a prisoner on death row. If that statement surprises you, consider this fact: of all the roles that Jesus played--preacher, teacher, healer, mentor, friend--none features as prominently in the gospels as this one, a criminal indicted and convicted of a capital offense. Now consider another fact: the arrest, trial, and execution of Jesus bear remarkable similarities to the American criminal justice system, especially in capital cases. From the use of paid informants to the conflicting testimony of witnesses to the denial of clemency, the elements in the story of Jesus' trial mirror the most common components in capital cases today. Finally, consider a question: How might we see capital punishment in this country differently if we realized that the system used to condemn the Son of God to death so closely resembles the system we use in capital cases today? Should the experience of Jesus' trial, conviction, and execution give us pause as we take similar steps to place individuals on death row today? These are the questions posed by this surprising, challenging, and enlightening book
