Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Melissa Fuster thinks expansively about the multiple meanings of comida, food, from something as simple as a meal to something as complex as one's identity. She listens intently to the voices of New York City residents with Cuban, Dominican, or Puerto Rican backgrounds, as well as to those of the nutritionists and health professionals who serve them. She argues with sensitivity that the migrants' health depends not only on food culture but also on important structural factors that underlie their access to food, employment, and high-quality healthcare. People in Hispanic Caribbean communities in the United States present high rates of obesity, diabetes, and other diet-related diseases, conditions painfully highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both eaters and dietitians may blame these diseases on the shedding of traditional diets in favor of highly processed foods. Or, conversely, they may blame these on the traditional diets of fatty meat, starchy root vegetables, and rice. Applying a much needed intersectional approach, Fuster shows that nutritionists and eaters often misrepresent, and even racialize or pathologize, a cuisine's healthfulness or unhealthfulness if they overlook the kinds of economic and racial inequities that exist within the global migration experience.

Book excerpt: The Adventures of Ceberis: Rise of the Guardians is a book about a boy named Ceberis, and the beginning of his adventures in a kingdom called, Landscaping. The story starts with twelve-year-old Ceberis as a servant to a cruel master. When he seeks a way to escape this life of servitude and abuse, Ceberis is caught for the millionth time. After barely escaping an unthinkable punishment, Ceberis finds a silver door in his masters mansion. But the door was actually more than what it appeared. The silver door was actually a portal that transported Ceberis to another world; Landscaping. In this new land impossible things happen. The land changes every few days. One day a mountain could be on one side of the land, the next, it could be on the other. Unusual creatures live in this changing land. There are flying-fish, giants, and terrifying monsters that only come out at night. Upon arrival in Landscaping, Ceberiss soul is somehow linked with the soul of one of the lands four Guardians. The boy discovers that he now has these amazing powers, and that every sense is heightened. But its not all fun and games. A sorceress is out to get the throne for herself. If she has control over the land, she could alter it in any way she chooses. Now Ceberis finds that he has to help to save the throne, and find the other Guardians before its too late. But how can a servant, a princess, a fishmongers son, and a mysterious stranger save the world?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The articles in this book display the originality and creativity of Eros and Eris, and their important role in the history of our culture, particularly in the history of philosophy and its role in today's systematic philosophy. Although these contributions to a hermeneutical phenomenology in this compilation are organized in a linear-chronological order (treating Homer, Hesiod, Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Bonaventure, Thomas Aquinas, Cusanus, Kant, Hegel, Schelling, Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger and Levinas), they all carry out their own hermeneutical movement in the history of philosphy on the basis of a commitment with out life, here and now, and a thematic, professional interest. Among the contributors are: R. Bernasconi, J. Colette, J.F. Courtine, L. Dupré, Kl. Düsing, J. Greisch, J. Kockelmans, P.-J. Labarrière and G. Jarczyk, E. Levinas, Al. Lingis, J.-L. Marion, O. Pöggeler, W. Richardson, P. Ricoeur, J. Sallis, M. Theunissen and S. IJsseling.
