Book excerpt: This book studies the emergence, in the late 1960s and 1970s, of a sophisticated body of gay fiction in Catalan, and examines the relation between the representation of homosexuality and the discourses on national identity that legitimate modern Catalan literature. Gay fiction, argues the author, reveals a tension between the nation and the body in Catalan literature: Catalonia is a nation different from Spain, a cultural and political minority within Europe; but the existence of sexual minorities within its boundaries reveals its inner complexity, which resists homogenization. Catalonia is another country in more ways than one. Drawing on a variety of critical discourses (gay theory, psychoanalysis, and authors such as Foucault, Deleuze and Guattari, and Bourdieu), Another Country explores the intertwinings of identity, cultural politics, and desire in the work of Terenci Moix, Lluis Fernandez, Biel Mesquida, and Lluis Maria Todo. The book analyses how gay writers renegotiate identity discourses in Catalan literature in order to introduce homosexuality into them, often with destabilising effects. The role of gay authors in the process of canon construction (a crucial aspect of contemporary cultural nationalism in Catalonia) is also considered, focusing on postmodernism and the divide between high and mass culture. Finally, Another Country addresses the interplay of homosexual desire within the frame of a distinction between perversion and transgression, and proposes an alliance between queer and nationalist discourses.

This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study focuses upon the work of the Catalan woman poet Maria-Mercè Marçal. It analyses the interaction between body and language in her first five books of poetry. Drawing on the Italian feminist thought of il pensiero della differenza sessuale, it examines the ways in which Marçal’s poetic images display her Catalan feminine subjectivity, including the function of the poet, the space of poetry and the representation of love. It also explores the potentiality of the space of poetry to reconstruct female identity and reconfigure reality. In addition, it unravels the way in which the poet uses poetry to express the love for the other whilst also extending the boundaries of the self. The central concern is to bridge the fissure between female experience and universal precepts on the art of poetry through the predominance of an embodied and natural iconography. This study presents Marçal’s poetic compositions within the international panorama of poetry and feminist studies and aims to open up new terrains of discussion in the field of language, body and writing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is all about experiencing the awesome WHOLENESS power of God through a life of discipleship and prayer. The book is a call to get back to the simple basics of the Bible using the wholeness and oneness principles as a guide. In a few of the later chapters the book explores some simple, but remarkable number patterns such as the mathematical constants for light, time, gravity, creation fire, and many more, all of which were encoded in the Psalms 3000 years ago, about 2,900 years before they were known. These simple number patterns such as 19 for electricity, 27 for light, 29 for creation fire, and 38 for gravity, all have 'key words' in the first few verses of the Psalm number that is the same exact number of the math constant. The book also explores a few (ELS) or what is called Equidistant Lette! r Sequences to show hidden codes in the Bible. There also is a unique matrix code for the World Trade Center attack included. Many more interesting Bible numbers that equal modern day scientific theory and fact are found in the Tabernacle of Moses and other places in the Bible. The book brings out the wholeness principles contained in the Bible and how to apply them to your life. The book also validates the fact that the Bible contains the simple mathematical evidence for the existence of God with patterns of numbers that are way beyond chance.

This book was released on 2022-10-24 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Researchers have looked into the role of individual differences in second language learning and found that differences between learners in areas such as language aptitude, language learning motivation and exposure to the language influence second language learning. Most of this research concerned adults. Far fewer studies have addressed the role of individual differences in second language learning of young learners. As second language learning programmes tend to start earlier than before and children are nowadays frequently exposed to a foreign language in social settings such as online games and social media, studying the role of individual differences in young learners can contribute both to SLA-theories and to evidence-based L2 education. This book discusses recent findings concerning the role of individual differences in language learning in young learners. The chapters in the book concern different topics linked to internal individual differences such as language aptitude, motivation, attitude and external individual differences such as exposure and type of instruction, the relative contribution of internal and external factors to language learning, and the interplay between the two types of individual differences.
