This book was released on 2019-10-31 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2019 in the subject Health - Sport - Sport Medicine, Therapy, Prevention, Nutrition, grade: A+, Haramaya University, language: English, abstract: The reason why the researcher selected these two clubs is that both clubs are found in Hawassa, they enjoy the same environment, they play their home game on the same pitch, and the only difference that exists between the two clubs is the way how they feed. South Police feeds in the camp while Hawassa Ketema feeds in the hotel. So the researcher wants to know how it affects them. Hence, this study was attempted to answer the following basic research questions. First: What are the daily calorie intakes of the players? Second: What are the major types of diets consumed? Third: Is there a balance between caloric intake and caloric expenditure? Fourth: Do age and body weight of the players is taken in to consideration in the dietary intake? So far no Ethiopian research on the diet and performance of Ethiopian premier league clubs particularly regarded the aspects of nutrition. In Ethiopian premier league history a number of clubs struggled hardly to stay on the league, unfortunately they relegated to the super league on the same year due to different reasons. Majority of the players and coaches are heard when blaming the referee, pitch, training strategy, game tactics, individual technics and weather conditions to lose the game. No one cared about the effect of diet on the outcome of the game. However, like physical training program, if each and every club intended to follow appropriate nutrition program for their players, the expected result would be remarkable. It is clear that nutrition has an effect on sports performance. Sport nutrition is a rapidly growing field and is the science of improving sporting performance by tailoring specific food and fluid recommendations to an athlete. It is known that factors such as dehydration and a lack of energy supply can limit performance. As expressed in Foundation Soccer Coaching Manual, nutrition is an important part of any successful training program. Food is the fuel of athletic performance. Though the coach cannot control his/her athlete's food, rather he/she can guide them toward healthy eating. For this purpose, the coach should be acquainted with the basic of proper nutrition.

Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2009 in the subject Law - Civil / Private, Trade, Anti Trust Law, Business Law, grade: gut, Tilburg University (Faculty of Law), course: International Business Law, language: English, abstract: The ENIC judgement of the Court of Arbitration for Sports clarified in 1999 that the UEFA regulations on multi-club ownership are necessary to maintain the integrity of football, in particular, the authenticity of results. Under the UEFA regulations, controlling interests in more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition are prohibited. However, it is not only multi-club ownership that may influence the so-called integrity of the game. Investments of clubs in other clubs (cross ownership) and shareholdings of “club-involved” persons in a club different from their own also raise issues. The following paper therefore examines the current regulations on those shareholdings for UEFA competitions (Champions’ League and Europa League) and for national leagues in England, Spain, and Germany. The analysis provides a detailed overview of how the game’s integrity is protected and shows whether improvements seem necessary.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2008 in the subject Sport - Sport History, grade: distinction, The University of Liverpool, 87 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: This piece of work analyses the legal and statutory environment for investments in football clubs in Germany, as opposed to the situation in England. Whereas German regulations limit the acquisition of shares of football clubs, the legal framework is much more liberal in England. The paper looks at the potential conflicts of interest involved with club ownership issues as well as at the arguments for and against the German "50 plus 1" rule and how this rule may cause a shortfall in competitiveness as compared to English football. Finally, the dissertation looks at doubts over the lawfulness of the rule in relation to European antitrust legislation and doubts over its effectiveness concerning legal loopholes provided by German corporation law. The paper relied predominantly on the analysis of literature concerning the regulation of club ownership in England and Germany, whereas a significant amount of German literature was used. Essentially, the research found that there is reason for severe scepticism about both the lawfulness and the effectiveness of the "50 plus 1" rule. It would probably not bear up against a test before the European Court of Justice. There are several opportunities in German corporate law to circumvent the rule. Finally, the paper urges the German Football Association (DFB) to consider a softening of the regulations currently in place, and effective modifications of the underlying licensing system, respectively, as well as the introduction of supporters' trusts and fit and proper person tests. Finally, the paper claims that competitive balance on a European club level can only be restored if club ownership issues are resolved on a European level.

Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2016 in the subject Business economics - Banking, Stock Exchanges, Insurance, Accounting, grade: 3.5, , language: English, abstract: The general objective of this study is to investigate the impact of income source diversification on financial performance of commercial banks in Ethiopia. Commercial banks in Ethiopia are currently facing competition from non-bank institutions entry into the activities which was in the past only role of banks. Therefore, banks started searching new income sources rather than focusing only traditional inter-mediation income generating activities. Thus, this study was to examine the impact of income sources diversification on bank performance in case of some selected commercial banks in Ethiopia by using panel data over the period 2010-2015. The study used secondary data collected mainly from each sampled banks annual report financial statements. Since the data is secondary in nature, quantitative approach was adopted. This data was analyzed by using STATA version 12 and Microsoft Excel. Fixed effect model was used, since this model is preferred than the random effect model based on the hausman specification test. Return on asset (ROA) was used as dependent variable while income diversification (Div) as independent variable with control variables such as bank size (BS) in terms of total assets, equity/ assets ratio (EAR), loan/asset ratio (LAR) and expense/income ratio (Exp). The findings of the study show that the level of diversification has a positive impact on financial performance of Ethiopian commercial banks. In addition, the study also revealed that EAR, LAR and BS had positive impact on financial performance while Exp had negative impact. The results of the study are important for bankers to understand how income diversification affects the performance of banks. Therefore, the study recommended that banks should diversify their sources of income into interest and non-interest as well as reduce operating expense in effective way, so as to enhance their performance (ROA).

Book excerpt: Thesis (M.A.) from the year 2011 in the subject Business economics - Banking, Stock Exchanges, Insurance, Accounting, grade: Very Good, Mekelle University, language: English, abstract: The objective of the study was to compare the financial performance of commercial Banks by using their average ratio in terms of profitability, liquidity, efficiency, and solvency. In this study by using excel analyzed information was presented by statistical measures like graphs and tables. Both the trend and comparative financial performance analysis approaches were used. Five years audited financial reports from 2005 to 2009 of the commercial banks were taken for comparison purpose. Those commercial banks taken for comparison were Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Dashen Bank Share Company, Bank of Abyssinia, United Bank, Wegagen Bank, and Nib International Bank. Year of establishment, amount of capital reserve, and number of branches are taken as a criterion for selecting these commercial banks for analysis purpose. In addition to data gathered from secondary sources, unstructured interview was conducted on problem and prospects related to the financial performance of commercial banks and the responses were presented. The respective ratios of each bank are compared with the average ratios of the six commercial banks taken for the study. Then trend analyses of six commercial banks taken in this study are presented by using the above ratios. In both the financial performance analysis approaches i.e., the trend and comparative analysis, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) showed good performance in financial ratios of Profitability, Liquidity, and Solvency ratio, but Bank of Abyssinia(BOA) has showed weak performance in all above explained financial ratios. From this, it is concluded that CBE was profitable and functionally efficient and BOA is less profitable and the earning capacity of the bank is weak. Therefore, in order to improve profitability the management of BOA must increase management efficiency by reducing administrative expenses to the best possible level, efficiently control costs and utilize customers deposit, dispose of the assets which are not contributing for the profitability of the banks and work to maximize the overall profitability of the bank through investing in profitable avenue.
