Book excerpt: Danger arises when twenty-one-year-old from a magical family falls in love in this dark, Southern Gothic, new adult fantasy series debut. When the world fears you, being Gifted is a curse. Tallulah Caibre knows this all too well. In the cornerstone of the rural south, Brooklyn, Mississippi, no one dares make eye contact with the strange Caibre family. Until the rewards are worth the cost. The townsfolk come, cash in hand, always at night, to pay for services only a Gifted can provide. No matter the Gifts prevalent in her family, at twenty-one, Tallulah is expected to follow the path laid out for her: marriage, babies, and helping her mama teach the family home school program. She’s resigned to live the quiet life and stay out of trouble…until she meets Logan. An outsider and all-around rebel, Logan doesn’t care about her family’s reputation. Yet after a tragic loss wreaks havoc on the crumbling relationship between the Caibres and the townsfolk, Tallulah must decide if love and freedom are worth risking everything. “Blackbird Summer harkens to a time of mysticism and magic, painting old world beliefs and mindsets onto a contemporary palette. The depth of emotion and atmosphere created in the story is nothing short of amazing.”—Award-winning author Tina Moss

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Journal of an Unknown Knight begins in the Philippines in 1944, the year the author was born, and then spans a period of 65 years, up through March 2009. The first part of the book relates Jose Alejandrino's early years in Europe and the United States. Since his father was a diplomat, Alejandrino left the Philippines when he was seven years old. He was schooled in Bangkok, Madrid, England, Pakistan, Paris and New York City. He now lives in a small mountain village near Marbella on the southern coast of Spain. As a boy, he read Thomas Malory's King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table, which had a big impact. I fantasized myself as one of Arthur's knights and it remained embedded in my mind. Alejandrino published his first book in 1981. As a journalist with the Manila Chronicle, he had a column called Rosebud. The author has come to finally understand his life's quest, and through it, the significance of the Holy Grail. Alejandrino would have written this book long ago if he had not promised Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos that he would not reveal certain things that happened prior to and during his presidency. But over 10 years have passed since Ramos left power. I feel it's time to tell the story. The world and the Filipino people have a right to know what really happened. He adds, I fulfilled my obligations as a knight. I fought good battles and remained true to myself.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is a study of the dramatic use, treatment, and staging of performed 'discoveries' - actions which the theatre is uniquely able to exploit visually and explore verbally. The motif of discovery - in the now almost obsolete sense of uncovering or disclosing - is prominent in the language and action of Elizabethan, Jacobean, and Caroline plays. Visual discoveries are used repeatedly through the period by virtually every playwright, regardless of company or venue. These discoveries are of two different but related kinds: the disguise discovery - the removal of a disguise to uncover identity; and the discovery scene - the opening of curtains or doors to reveal a place or the removal of a lid or cover to effect a disclosure. This is the first analysis of staged discoveries as such; in it I show how and why these actions are essential to the way a play dramatizes and explores such interrelated matters as deception, privacy, secrecy, and truth; knowledge, justice, and renewal"--
