Book excerpt: JOIN DARLENE IN THE KITCHEN...Darlene's Redneck Recipes is a Southern humor/cookbook featuring over 200 mouth-watering, simple-to-make country recipes and it is narrated by Darlene Higginbottom, movie star wannabe and comic character from "Laid to Rest," so you know it'll be fun as well as high in calories! Darlene is no expert in the kitchen and hates cooking, but she'll be sharing down-home, high-fat and high-carb recipes that are favorites with her family and friends. Plus, she provides a commentary on Southern foods and traditions such as why the cornbread skillet is sacred, picking poke sallet, and frying everything. From cornbread to fried chicken, it's all about comfort food that Southern mommas cooked for generations. Full of butter, fat, and everything that's bad for you but tastes so good that Darlene promises you'll be swooning at the table. And, folks, she ain't kidding.
