Book excerpt: Journey into Fortuna, California's california conservation corps. weird occult practices involving censoring people out of pictures, office administrators deliberate stiffing workers out of workers comp, deliberate lies, medication weirdly getting stolen, administration inappropiately spending its money, my personal witnessing of administrators retaliating against the workers, a weird sex game on center designed for workers to sleep their way to the top, one supervisor who wasted over 202 hours in a 3 month time span I'll go into detail how even simple emails and mail parcels will turn into tales of deception There's a number of really strange stuff going on in this center. Employees kept in their rooms for a consecutive month while on "injury policies." This holds no punches. I am not forgiving for this nonsense going on. There is no excuse for what they've done.

Book excerpt: TURN OFF, TUNE OUT, TRANSFORM! "WHEN I HEAR THE WORD 'CELEBRITY' I REACH FOR MY REVOLVER!" The Revelations will be televised as the suicide bombing of a television studio and the symbolic on-stage martyrdom of a charismatic rock star present the world with a startling new phenomenon. The Radicalized Celebrity. Investigating a wave of attacks against high-profile media targets, lifestyle magazine editor, Miranda Black, participates in the A-List Asylum reality TV show, staged in a disused madhouse by the controversial psychiatrist, Dr Phaedra Lake. And, as the programme approaches its violent climax, Miranda finally discovers the truth behind the escalating terror campaign and the subversive ideology its visionary founder describes as "a quantum leap into an unimaginable future." CELEBRITY DEATH CULT combines satire with the conspiracy-thriller genre and dystopian science fiction to depict a psychopathic mass-media environment in which the Cult of Celebrity and urban terrorism collide catastrophically.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Second World War hundreds of Hollywood filmmakers under the command of the legendary director John Ford enlisted in the OSS to produce training, reconnaissance and propaganda films. This wartime bond continued into the post-war period, when a number of studios produced films advocating the creation of a permanent peacetime successor to the OSS: what became the Central Intelligence Agency. By the 1960s however, Hollywood's increasingly irreverent attitude towards the CIA reflected a growing public anxiety about excessive US government secrecy. In Secrecy's Shadow provides the first comprehensive history of the birth and development of Hollywood's relationship with American intelligence. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, synthesizing literatures and methodologies from diplomatic history, film studies and cultural theory, and it presents new perspectives on a number of major filmmakers including Darryl F. Zanuck, Alfred Hitchcock and John Ford. Based on research conducted in over 20 archival repositories across the United States and UK, In Secrecy's Shadow explores the revolution in the relationship between Hollywood and the secret state, from unwavering trust and cooperation to extreme scepticism and paranoia, and demonstrates the debilitating effects of secrecy upon public trust in government and the stability of national memory.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a sharp eye and wry wit, Roger Hall recounts his experiences as an American Army officer assigned to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II. First published in 1957 to critical and popular acclaim, his book has become a cult favorite in intelligence circles. The story follows Hall's experiences from a junior officer fleeing a tedious training assignment in Louisiana to his quirky and rigorous OSS training rituals in the United States, England, and Scotland. Quick to pick up on the skills necessary for behind-the-lines intelligence work, he became an expert instructor. But he was only reluctantly given operational duties because of his reputation as an iconoclast. In his droll story-telling style, Hall describes his first parachute jump in support of the French resistance as a comedy of errors that terminated prematurely. His last assignment in the war zone came when William Colby appointed him section head of an operations group that made its way on foot through Sweden. Called one of the funniest and most perceptive works ever written about life in the OSS, the book includes a wealth of unforgettable personalities that Hall encountered over the years.
