This book was released on 1999 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this atlas is to provide an illustrated guide to the diagnosis of bone, joint and soft tissue lesions. Although primarily directed towards histopathologists, it will also be of use to physicians, surgeons, radiologists and others involved in the diagnosis and treatment ofpathological conditions of bone, joint and soft tissues. As the pathology of bone, joint and soft tissues is commonly dealt with separately in other works, one of the aims of this atlas is to present in a single volume the appearances of the neoplastic as well as the more common non-neoplasticconditions encountered in orthopaedic pathology. The photomicrographs in this atlas provide representative appearances of the (often highly variable) morphological features of pathological lesions occurring in bone, joint and soft tissue. Where possible, the pathology is shown at both low-power andhigh power in order to demonstrate both in order to demonstrate both the overall architecture and cytological detail of the lesion. As examination of gross specimen may provide useful diagnostic information, the macroscopic appearance of some lesions has also been illustrated. The captions whichaccompany the figures not only describe the histological findings but also, as this often provides essential diagnostic information, the clinical background and radiological features of each lesion.

Similar to the prior edition, this book complements standard pathology texts and blends new but relatively established information on the molecular biology of the bone. Serving as a bench-side companion to the surgical pathologist, this new edition reflects new advances in our understanding of the molecular biology of bone. New chapters on soft-tissue sarcomas and soft-tissue tumors have been added as well as several additional chapters such as Soft-tissue pathology and Biomechanics. The volume is written by experts who are established in the field of musculoskeletal diseases. Bone Pathology is a combined effort from authors of different specialties including surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and basic scientists all of whom have in common an interest in bone diseases. It will be of great value to surgical pathology residents as well as practicing pathologists, skeletal radiologists, orthopedic surgeons and medical students.

This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Photographic Regional Atlas of Bone Disease is intended to serve the needs of a diverse audience including paleopathologists, physical anthropologists and other anthropologists, police, crime scene technicians, medical examiners, radiologists, anatomists, and other medical specialists, regardless of training or experience. Although originally written as a manual for physical anthropologists, it has become a reference for anyone examining skeletal remains or dealing with bone disease, especially in dry-bone specimens. Over the years it has gained in popularity as one of the few “required” manuals in most skeletal laboratories throughout the U.S. and, in fact, many countries. The purpose of the book is to bridge the gap between clinical medicine, radiology and physical anthropology by providing researchers with a single source and photographic atlas of what they might encounter in one bone or an entire skeletal collection, regardless of antiquity or origin. Unlike most texts written by clinicians for clinicians, or those that focus on one specialty, the Regional Atlas was compiled by biological anthropologists using a “dry bones” approach and simple yet precise terminology, based on examination of nearly 10,000 skeletons. The authors’ expertise and diversity in anatomy, radiology, pathology and human variation provide them with a unique perspective for distinguishing normal variation from pathological conditions. The book was written as a basic stand-alone reference for bone disease and normal variation. It contains black and white photographs and an extensive use of color plates depicting a variety of disease conditions and stages of progression that one might expect to encounter in one or many skeletons. The purpose of this text is to provide readers with sufficient information on bone disease and human variation for them to recognize, describe and interpret them. Once they have identified a disease, normal variant or other condition, they can turn to the bibliography for references and additional information. The Regional Atlas is intended to provide readers with enough information to do their own skeletal analysis. It is this “dry bones” approach, combined with the vast experiences of the authors, vivid photos and simple terminology, that sets the Regional Atlas apart from all others.

Book excerpt: This book covers most skeletal landmarks that are palpable through manual palpation and virtual palpation (i.e., using 3D models generated from medical imaging). Each chapter focuses on a particular bone or segment and includes: a general anatomical presentation of the bone SL (using images showing real specimens and 3D bone models); very detailed descriptions of skeletal landmarks using manual palpation and virtual palpation. These definitions have been written in order to be reproducible. Each section includes detailed descriptions of all palpable skeletal landmarks for the current bone. Each landmark is described on one page. Also each landmark page is labelled by a unique acronym. The latter should be used for further data exchange and programming in order to guarantee that no redundant label exists. Full colour, over 500 full colour images Each bone is described in a separate section, making referencing easy Multidisciplinary approach
