Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together two fundamental texts from Frédéric Pham’s research on singular integrals, the first part of this book focuses on topological and geometrical aspects while the second explains the analytic approach. Using notions developed by J. Leray in the calculus of residues in several variables and R. Thom’s isotopy theorems, Frédéric Pham’s foundational study of the singularities of integrals lies at the interface between analysis and algebraic geometry, culminating in the Picard-Lefschetz formulae. These mathematical structures, enriched by the work of Nilsson, are then approached using methods from the theory of differential equations and generalized from the point of view of hyperfunction theory and microlocal analysis. Providing a ‘must-have’ introduction to the singularities of integrals, a number of supplementary references also offer a convenient guide to the subjects covered. This book will appeal to both mathematicians and physicists with an interest in the area of singularities of integrals. Frédéric Pham, now retired, was Professor at the University of Nice. He has published several educational and research texts. His recent work concerns semi-classical analysis and resurgent functions.

This book was released on 2023-10-04 with total page 954 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book first discusses the concepts of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) and provides a new framework to deal with these issues in the context of sustainability. It then explores the requirements of "an end state of global sustainability" and subsequently moves to a detailed analysis of the current governance regime, delving into the CSR-related liabilities and incentives at stake for both corporations and their directors. It concludes with a framework suggesting that there are four normative avenues for addressing environmental and social imperatives in company law, which helps reflect on how to tackle the "potentiality for a sustainability gap" in corporate governance and CSR. The author always discusses practical realities and incentives, at both the policy and corporate levels, in addition to theoretical aspects. The thesis on which this book is based received the distinction "Summa Cum Laude" and the 2023 Law Faculty Prize from the University of Lausanne. Dr Christophe George is a Research Associate at the Centre for Business Research in the University of Cambridge. He holds a PhD in Company Law and Management from the University of Lausanne, a Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Cambridge, a Master in Management from Harvard University, and a Master in Law and Economics from HEC Lausanne.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by a leading scholar in mathematics, this monograph discusses the Radon transform, a field that has wide ranging applications to X-ray technology, partial differential equations, nuclear magnetic resonance scanning, and tomography. In this book, Ehrenpreis focuses on recent research and highlights the strong relationship between high-level pure mathematics and applications of the Radon transform to areas such as medical imaging. The first part of the book discusses parametric and nonparametric Radon transforms, Harmonic Functions and Radon transform on Algebraic Varieties, nonlinear Radon and Fourier transforms, Radon transform on groups, and Radon transform as the interrelation of geometry and analysis. The later parts discuss the extension of solutions of differential equations, Periods of Eisenstein and Poincaré, and some problems of integral geometry arising in tomography. Examples and proofs are provided throughout the book to aid the reader's understanding. This is the latest title in the Oxford Mathematical Monographs, which includes texts and monographs covering many topics of current research interest in pure and applied mathematics. Other titles include: Carbone and Semmes: A graphic apology for symmetry and implicitness; Higson and Roe: Analytic K-Homology; Iwaniec and Martin: Geometric Function Theory and Nonlinear Analysis; Lyons and Qian: System Control and Rough Paths. Also new in paperback Johnson and Lapidus: The Feynman Integral and Feynman's Operational Calculus; Donaldson and Kronheimer: The geometry of four-manifolds.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this volume is two-fold. First, to show how the resurgent methods introduced in volume 1 can be applied efficiently in a non-linear setting; to this end further properties of the resurgence theory must be developed. Second, to analyze the fundamental example of the First Painlevé equation. The resurgent analysis of singularities is pushed all the way up to the so-called “bridge equation”, which concentrates all information about the non-linear Stokes phenomenon at infinity of the First Painlevé equation. The third in a series of three, entitled Divergent Series, Summability and Resurgence, this volume is aimed at graduate students, mathematicians and theoretical physicists who are interested in divergent power series and related problems, such as the Stokes phenomenon. The prerequisites are a working knowledge of complex analysis at the first-year graduate level and of the theory of resurgence, as presented in volume 1.
