Download or read book BMW Motorcycles 1969-1973 R50/5 R60/5 R75/5 Workshop Manual written by Floyd Clymer and published by Veloce Enterprises, Incorporated. This book was released on 2024-03-21 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 210 pages and more than 350 illustrations and charts, size 8.25 x 10.75 inches. This publication is a reproduction of the August 1969 BMW factory workshop manual part number 01 51 9 099 051. This manual is applicable to all 1969 through 1973 BMW R50/5 R60/5 and R75/5 motorcycles. At the time of Floyd's unexpected demise in 1970, there were a number of manuals that had been completed and were ready for publication. This BMW motorcycle manual is one of those previously unpublished, Floyd Clymer publications. Dated August 1969, this manual was obviously intended to be a 'follow up' from his previous 1967 BMW R50 & R26 series manual. The original 1969 'proof' copy that was included in the Floyd Clymer archives was likely finalized in early 1970. However, as the BMW /5 series of motorcycles remained in production through 1973, we are pleased to present a newly prepared edition of Floyd's work as a service to all BMW motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide. Unfortunately, owners of the 1969-1973 BMW /5 series models are subjected to considerable confusion surrounding the appropriate selection of the multitude of originals and reprints of the various manuals that have recently flooded the marketplace. We encourage you to exercise caution when purchasing a manual for your motorcycle or automobile as many of the reprints found on internet websites are from 'bedroom sellers' at enticingly low prices by individuals that really have no idea what they are selling. Many are nothing more than poor quality, comb-bound photocopies that are scanned and printed complete with greasy pages and thumbprints and, as such, are deceptively described as 'pre-owned', 'used' or even 'refurbished'. In addition, they are often advertised for the incorrect series and/or model years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A faithful reproduction of the 1967 Floyd Clymer publication of the official factory BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) Workshop Manual for the R50, R50S, R60 and R69S twin cylinder motorcycles. It also includes the supplement issued by the factory for the USA versions R50US, R60US and R69US. --- There are exhaustive tables of technical data, tolerances and fits and all of the expected data from a factory publication for the repair and overhaul of all major and minor mechanical and electrical components, making it an invaluable resource for collectors and restorers of these classic BMW motorcycles. --- There are 257 illustrations and each procedure is explained in a step-by-step method using an appropriate illustration. The translation from German to English is, at times, a little quirky but the profuse illustrations make up for any difficulty in understanding what needs to be done! --- True to the original, this reproduction is published in four languages, English, German, French and Spanish making this a universal publication and required reading for any owner. Out-of-print and unavailable for many years, this book is highly sought after on the secondary market and we are pleased to be able to offer this reproduction as a service to all BMW enthusiasts worldwide.

Book excerpt: No motorcycle manufacturer is more closely associated with one type of engine than BMW: the air-cooled boxer twin or 'airhead'. It was included in BMW's very first motorcycle in 1923 and virtually every machine the company made, of every type, from radical road bike to TT winner, to land speed record holder, to 1970s style icon and even to the creation of an all-new adventure bike class with the R 80 G/S, right up to the mid-1990s. Phil West celebrates the success of the BMW airhead twin motorcycles. This book, with over 290 photographs, includes a history of the company pre- and post-War; the personalities behind the development of the bikes; profiles of each of the 'R' bikes in turn, including detailed specification guides and production numbers. These wonderful machines are regularly celebrated and now BMW itself is harking back to them with an all-new series of machines.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Complete Book of BMW Motorcycles offers a thorough year-by-year guide to every production machine ever built by Germany’s leading motorcycle manufacturer. From the first model, the 1923 R32 that launched BMW's motorcycle dynasty, to the latest (and fastest) superbike, the S1000RR, this book captures nearly a century of motorcycling excellence in a combination of historic and contemporary photos. Technical specs are provided for each model. This comprehensive review covers all of BMW's bike families: The side-valve machines from the early years The early overhead-valve performance bikes The modern Airheads and Oilheads The four-cylinder and six-cylinder touring bikes The early pushrod singles The modern overhead-cam singles The latest parallel twins, and inline-four cylinder sport bikes Among them, you'll find all the classic bikes—pre-World War II BMWs like the R5 that defined performance in that era; the military R12 that carried the Wehrmacht as it blitzkrieged its way across Europe; the Earles-forked R69S that offered the perfect platform for mounting a Steib sidecar; the R90S café racer; the K1 “flying brick”; and the GS (Gelände Sport) series that launched a dual-sport revolution right up to today’s world-class S100RR and retro-inspired R nine T. Like the other titles in Motorbooks' Complete Book series, this guide to BMW's motorcycle output offers the most complete reference to the subject available.

Book excerpt: BMW began its life in aero-engineering--as anyone who’s ever ridden one of its motorcycles might guess. These are bikes as close to airborne as any get. And what’s more, fifty percent of all the motorcycles BMW has manufactured are still flying down the world’s roads. These are the best, and in this book, the best of the best get their due, with brilliant, full-color photographs of BMW’s classic models and detailed descriptions of their features, all located within the context of a concise history of this legendary marque. From the first of BMW’s bikes, the R32, through the models that catapulted the company out of the ruins of World War II, to the latest bikes with the revamped opposed-twin-cylinder “boxer” engines that brought BMW its first fame--these are the bikes that made history, and, better yet, gave the most demanding riders a taste for flight.
