Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1983, a tiny group of people in Cardiff and a married couple in Aberporth West Wales were the only Welsh members of Soka Gakkai International, a Japanese movement based on the beliefs and teachings of the 13th century Buddhist, Nichiren Daishonin. Today, there are hundreds of members in Wales and the Borders. This book examines the history of the movement in these two areas, and draws on original research gleaned from the members themselves. The research elicits facets of their faith, practices, and study, as well as their testimonies to the success of such beliefs and practices in their daily lives. The book combines the twin goals of academic analysis of the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin in general with the warmth of its expression in the lives of its adherents in Wales and the Borders.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have written essays on art, architecture and literature for New English Review under Theodore Dalrymple. People think we should follow and as it's the facebook age write in little bits or compete with reality TV by telling all about us. I write traditional-style poems with, I hope, meaning. A publisher described me as The Rebel Poet because I ignore literary fashion and write in my own way.I like travelling and have been to many parts of the country, towns, cities and villages. My method for finding interesting local places is to ring the local tourist office and when I arrive I go to a pub and talk to local people who know the interesting places. I take a lot of photographs of these places and a very small example is in the Gallery on my website. I am taking notes for a future large volume of Literary Essays which will range from medieval Literature to the twentieth century. I studied English literature, Dramatic Structure and Playwriting, Film Structure and script writing. I find that when I am busy a break in a traditional pub is refreshing and you return to work with new ideas and a fresh view of what you are doing. People ask what one's influences are: I try to write in my own way. But a lifetime of reading leaves a mark.

Book excerpt: Link Denham needs a job. Any job. When he's offered the position of navigator on board the leaky, rickety Glamorgan, he takes it without asking too many questions. The destination? A planet that has barely been contacted in two hundred years, in a dystopic system, isolated from the rest of the galaxy. What he thought would be a simple job quickly turns into something far more complicated, as he finds himself embroiled in a complex web of treachery, double-crossing and alien politics. And what of this infamous machine the natives have, which can replicate anything put inside . . . ? Murray Leinster was a prolific figure in pulp fiction, writing short stories and novels across many genres. The Duplicators is a science fiction romp in his characteristic style, and a wonderful example of 1960s pulp science fiction.
