Traditional methods in the study of religion including philology, papyrology, art and iconography, anthropology, history, and psychology are combined with methodologies deriving from memory studies, graphic design, art education, and semiotics. Chapters explore both historical and contemporary case studies from Coptic Egypt, Nubia, Ethiopia, and South Africa, providing a comparative perspective on the Archangel Michael, alongside 25 images. Innovative in both its methodologies and geographical focus, this book is an important contribution to the study of religion and art, Christianity in Africa, and Coptic studies.

Pasquale Benvenuto is the owner of a beloved wine bar and delicatessen whose culinary reputation rests on recipes for the fruited breads and salamis his father taught him to make. Together Primo and Pasquale form an easy friendship triangle with the beautiful Beatrice, Primo's wife and Pasquale's former girlfriend. But when Beatrice leaves her husband for her old love, Primo is devastated. He casts spells to spoil Pasquale's creations and to win back Beatrice -- but inadvertently conjures up an unexpected visitor.

Book excerpt: “The Angels of Africa” book documents a project that I started in May of 2013 with my main goal being to seek out and find groups that were truly making a difference in Africa and provide them with quality media (photos and video). I wanted to do this to bolster their marketing resources in hopes that they could carry out their missions for years to come. This book documents my time with those groups and highlights their selfless efforts. My goal for the book is to raise awareness of the group’s efforts and hopefully raise a little revenue for them as well. The Angels of Africa project really allowed me to give to others, however to my surprise I feel that I gained much more in return. It allowed me to overcome many fears, spread love and grow as an individual. I feel that this project has instilled the confidence inside me to continue down the path of NGO photographer for as long as I am allowed to. This premise of the book was derived from love, was made with love and hopefully will continue to inspire love and compassionate action in everyone who reads it. Know that by buying this book you too are bringing love and attention to an area that desperately needs it. I thank you and I know that the organizations featured in this book thank you as well. Please know that I am selling this book at cost only. No profit will be made. Sending Love and Light.-Marshall Foster

Book excerpt: You will enjoy this story of how God is at work in our everyday lives. It is an autobiography of Jerry Gibson, a man who has dedicated his life to God's service. This book shows us how Jerry was called to Ghana, West Africa to direct the founding of Ghana Christian College. Those that came after him searched for the best land for building the college. He recruited a faculty and enrolled students. Thirty-seven years later Ghana Christian College became Ghana Christian University. Its new campus was inaugurated in the summer of 2003. The book will bring both joy and tears as Jerry shares the difficult times he and his family endured. Through it all Jerry gives us his personal account of Christ's abundant light and love at work in his life. I hope you enjoy reading Angels In Africa as much as I have. After reading Jerry's book I recommend sharing it with a friend or family member so that Christ's light and love might reach out to all people. Victor W. Pearn February 24, 2004

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War, hundreds of women left their countries for South Africa, some in search of adventure, others with a strong desire to help the victims of war. They came from all over the world – from Britain and its colonies, and from pro-Boer countries in Europe. But, whatever their origins, they all came to live and work under harsh conditions in a world that was foreign to them. Angels of Mercy tells the story of twelve of these brave women. Hailing from England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, some worked as nurses on the frontline, while others came to teach Boer children in the concentration camps. Based on personal diaries and letters and other wartime sources, this fascinating and inspiring book tells of their trials and tribulations as they dealt with the dangers of war, the extremes of the environment, and the sad eyes of the dying men under their care. Theirs are stories of compassion and courage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business angels are recognized as playing a key role in financing the start-up and early stages of new ventures. However, our knowledge of how business angels operate remains limited and highly fragmented. This Handbook provides a synthesis of research on business angels. It adopts an international perspective to reflect the spread of angel investing around the world. The increasing number of government initiatives to promote angel investing is also reflected in the book with an assessment of the most common support schemes. Adopting an international focus, the expert group of contributors examine business angels themselves, the evolution of the market, the various stages of the investment process and the role of public policy in influencing angel investment. They each conclude their chapters with an agenda for future research on business angels. Students and scholars of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial finance and related subjects will find this book to be an invaluable resource for their work. In particular, they will benefit from the research agendas that conclude each chapter. This Handbook will also be of interest to policy-makers and other practitioners looking to enhance their understanding of the design and need for such interventions.

Book excerpt: God Decides He is fed up with the way that Lucifer and his demons have been disgracing and destroying the human Souls on Earth. God calls together a war council to plan a three prong war to end all evil on Earth and in hell, while protecting Heaven itself. God's goal is to offer forgiveness for those devils, demons and evil Souls to repent and seek forgiveness from God for all their sinful deeds. God also intends to offer Lucifer this same offer. All devils, demons and evil Souls who want to come back to the light of God will be forgiven and allowed entrance into Heaven. Those Devils, demons, and evil Souls who refuse God's offer will be immediately destroyed. One of God's armies will protect Heaven while the war begins on Earth and in Hell. A second army of various types of Angels will coordinate the attack on Earth. When Earth is conquered, a third of an extremely trained and powerful army will attack the gates of Hell and begin the destruction of each level of Hell. God orders that Lucifer is not to be killed or severely injured until His special envoy can deliver God's personal message. The special envoy God selected was "Mallory of the Angels". An angel loved second only to Jesus. An Angel of love and forgiveness. This special envoywould require exteme protection while in Hell. Three Angel Generals were selected for this chore, Solrac, Samot, and Noel. When Hell is in the hands of God's forces, Lucifer is captured and brought to Mallory of the Angels. She then proceeds to explain God's offer for forgiveness or for destruction. Luicifer is given a moment to choose.
