Book excerpt: The founder of the American Nazi party and its leader until he was murdered in 1967,George Lincoln Rockwell was one of the most significant extremist strategists and ideologists of the postwar period. His influence has only increased since his death. A powerful catalyst and innovator, Rockwell broadened his constituency beyond the core Radical Right by articulating White Power politics in terms that were subsequently appropriated by the one-time klansman David Duke. He played a major role in developing Holocaust revisionism, now an orthodoxy of the Far Right. He also helped politicize Christian Identity, America's most influential right-wing religious movement, and welded together an international organization of neo-Nazis. All of these extremist movements continue to thrive today. Frederick Simonelli's biography of this powerful and enigmatic figure draws on primary sources of extraordinary depth, including declassified FBI files and manuscripts and other materials held by Rockwell's family and associates. The first objective assessment of the American Nazi party and an authoritative study of the roots of neo-nazism, neo-fascism, and White Power extremism in postwar America, American Fuehrer is shocking and absorbing reading.

Book excerpt: From the end of World War II to the 1970s, neo-Nazis and other fascist groups relied heavily on rituals and symbols borrowed from the Third Reich. Goodrick-Clarke argues that in response to an ascendant globalization and neo-liberalism, European and American neo-Nazi ideology significantly changed in character, finding inspiration in Aryan cults, aristocratic paganism, anti-Semitic demonology, Eastern religion, and the occult, resulting in a new quasi-mysticism typified by the use of the symbol of the Black Sun as a mystical source of energy capable of regenerating the so-called "Aryan" race. He explores the growth and development of the religious ideology of the movement focusing on such neo-Nazi philosophers as Wilhelm Landig, the popularizer of new volkisch movements; Julio Evola, who incorporates Hindu caste hierarchy ideas into his doctrine of a Gnostic-Manichaean "Esoteric Hitlerism"; theorists of Nazi- Satanism; and a number of others. Book excerpt: Fifty years after the fall of the Nazi Third Reich and V-E Day, BOA Editions, Ltd. is proud to present W. D. Snodgrass's The Fuebrer Bunker: The Complete Cycle. These dramatic monologues are spoken by members of the German High Command - Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Albert Speer, Hermann Goering - their wives and mistresses, including Eva Braun and Magda Goebbels, during the last month of the European campaign of World War II, before many of them, along with their Fuehrer, committed suicide in his bunker. Dramatizing the end of the horrible psycho-drama that was Hitler's Reich, The Fuehrer Bunker shows much of the paranoia, self-indulgence, degradation and rage that consumed the German leaders. Snodgrass uses a variety of forms - villanelles, letters and sonnets, and nonceforms - triangles, inverted triangles, platoons and squads, American popular songs and a game of solitaire - which intensify the internal conflicts. Albert Speer, Hitler's chief architect and minister of armaments, for example, speaks and thinks in geometric forms, which, as Hitler's mania and Germany's losses increase, break down. Framing the monologues are the songs of Old Lady Barkeep who is both Chorus and Mistress of Ceremonies. She sings of the High Command's deceit and of the people's disillusionment with their leaders.
