Book excerpt: Do you want to live a longer life? Without cashing out money on high-end expensive treatments? Newly formulated products? Or regular therapeutic trips to different commercial spaces? If you think it seems impossible, well, think again as you are about to know the secret to a longer life! According to the United Nations, the global average life expectancy rose at its peak of 72.6 years old in 2019. 1 This is by far the longest life expectancy that we have achieved after 1950. In line with this, some areas in the world still live a longer life expectancy than most places. These are called blue zones. 2 These blue zones are areas that hold different lifestyles and cultures that are unique only to them, and their practices are said to be connected to having a higher life expectancy. One of these blue zones is Okinawa in Japan, a region that houses the longest-lived women in the world. In fact, for every 100,000 inhabitants in this region, there are 68 centenarians or people who live at least 100 years old. Also, Japan is the second country that has the highest life expectancy in the world with 84.67 years old in 2019. Okinawans credit their longevity to a mantra from Confucius that is recited before meals "Hara hachi bu." This mantra always prompts them to stop eating when they are almost full, thus, preventing themselves from overeating. Also, they are family-oriented people and implied that living longer would make them feel more accomplished in life. So, what if I told you that one of the secrets of the longevity of the Okinawans is their diet? And that you will find out about their secret diet in this guide? In the following guide, you will discover... ● What the “Okinawa diet” is ● How to eat like an Okinawan ● How to live like the Okinawans ● How to plan meals as if you are Okinawan ● How to maintain the Okinawan lifestyle

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is great interest out there in what people can do to improve their longevity. I’ve been writing books about longevity for fourteen years and I realized there was one topic I had not really covered in detail. That topic is what are the foods and supplements we can take which will help make us healthy enough to lengthen our lives. Improving individual longevity is not just about foods and supplements. There are a lot of factors which all affect longevity so I have a chapter here which talks about my work “The 10 Principles of Personal Longevity” which covers those issues in more detail. In addition there are some specific physical issues like telomeres, inflammation, and oxidative stress which also affect chronic diseases and therefore longevity and these are discussed in detail. I also think it is pertinent to see what long lived communities eat so I’ve copied some of the key data and conclusions from my book on four long lived communities around the world to see what their diets are. Some recipes of their traditional foods are also included. Foods and supplements which have been known from historical times and today are discussed in detail for you to learn what the wisdom of the ages and science knows about the correct foods and supplements to eat. After reading this book you will have new ideas about the food, diets, and supplements you can eat to help you live a much longer and healthier life.

National Geographic Explorer Dan Buettner has traveled the globe to uncover the best strategies for longevity found in the Blue Zones: places in the world where higher percentages of people enjoy remarkably long, full lives. And in this dynamic book he discloses the recipe, blending this unique lifestyle formula with the latest scientific findings to inspire easy, lasting change that may add years to your life. Buettner's colossal research effort has taken him from Costa Rica to Italy to Japan and beyond. In the societies he visits, it's no coincidence that the way people interact with each other, shed stress, nourish their bodies, and view their world yields more good years of life. You'll meet a 94-year-old farmer and self-confessed "ladies man" in Costa Rica, an 102-year-old grandmother in Okinawa, a 102-year-old Sardinian who hikes at least six miles a day, and others. By observing their lifestyles, Buettner's teams have identified critical everyday choices that correspond with the cutting edge of longevity research and distilled them into a few simple but powerful habits that anyone can embrace

Book excerpt: The traditional Asian diet, based on plant foods such as vegetables, beans, legumes, fruits, nuts, and vegetable oils, has been followed across the continent for thousands of years. Although specific diets vary among different countries and regions, they have many components in common. Rice and/or noodles are staples. Although fish and/or seafood are common where available, meat is rarely a main course but may be used in dishes for accent and flavor.Approximately 60% of the world's population lives in Asia, and more than 43 countries follow some form of Asian diet. Food is an important part of daily life across Asia, and meals are an essential component of family relationships. Although varying religious practices and traditions dictate the types of foods eaten in specific Asian diets, and each country and region has distinct ingredients and cooking styles, there are many common elements. The Asian diet is based on fresh plant foods served raw, steamed, stirfried, or deep-fried. Fish and seafood are common in island nations and along coastlines, but meat is relatively rare. The Asian diet generally focuses on balance, with an ideal daily energy (calorie) content of about 1,200-1,400 calories. The traditional plant-based Asian diet is considered to be very healthy. It is high in fresh fruits and vegetables and fiber and low in fat and calories. The traditional Asian diet is also high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other micronutrients. Antioxidants help to prevent oxidative damage to the cells of the body from free radicals. Free radicals are the byproducts of normal metabolic functions as well as environmental toxins that are ingested and inhaled. Antioxidants may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer and heart disease. Saturated fats, which contribute to chronic illnesses, including obesity, coronary heart disease, and cancer, are almost completely absent from the Asian diet. Asians following a traditional diet are among the healthiest and longest-lived peoples, with lower rates of many illnesses common in the Western world, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, cancer, and obesity. Death rates from cardiovascular disease in Japan are less than half the rates in the United States. Residents of Okinawa, off the Japanese coast, are one of the longest-lived populations on earth. An increase in Western-style diets in Asia has correlated with increases in heart disease, cancer, and obesity rates across the continent.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Asian Detox Diet by Bora Gyeong Now Available on Amazon! The Asian Detox Diet is the latest wellness book by Bora Gyeong that seeks to apply Asian principles of eating to western culture. It is demonstrably obvious that Asians have less body fat and fewer heart problems than their western counterparts. While many people would consider this a genetic anomaly, it is clear that lifestyle and eating habits play a huge role in why those Asians who live in their native lands are slimmer than those who move to the west and adopt the western diet. Those who retain the types of habits and foods of their homeland are more apt to also retain a slimmer physique and fewer health issues. This has been the subject of previous books by Gyeong and covered more thoroughly within. This latest work, "The Asian Detox Diet" is the next in Gyeong''s series and details how to detox and reboot the body without fasting simply by being selective in the types of foods being eaten. "There are reasons to fast," Gyeong explains. "None of which are to lose weight. If you want to lose weight you need to expel the waste that is built up in your system, slowing it down, and making you feel bloated and sick. How you do this is through roughage, water, but not ''fasting.''" The principles of the detox outlined in the new eBook are based around Asian principles of homeopathy and evidence-based methodology, as well as, the meal of the average Asian diet. Shifting foods from one type to the next, employing new spices, adding roughage-all done in appropriate measures and means will force the body to evacuate those harmful toxins and excess waste it has been holding onto. The eBook details an approach to the Asian diet, the types of foods to eat, and various spice techniques to get the body working at optimal levels once more.
